Do i have to include the year on wedding invitation?

AG, on May 15, 2018 at 8:18 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 11

When I ordered my sample invitations, I realized I never put the year. Pretty much every invitation I saw online had the year listed, so I added it in. Since its all written out "two thousand eighteen" it's taking up some extra space and I don't love how it looks. I read on bride.com that you don't have to include the year, but I was wondering what you all thought. Did anyone not include the year on their invitation?

I think you would be fielding a lot of inquiries if you left it off.

I've never seen an invite without the year. You should probably include it.

Then again it would be weird to send an invite over a year in advance

Traditionally it isn't necessary although commonly done. Before seeing the nonsense that shows up here from time to time, I never would have thought someone would send an invitation more than a year in advance. Now however, nothing surprises me. Include the year to avoid any confusion someone might have because of something someone else might have pulled

I don't think so, unless you send it more than a year early. But everyone will assume it's the calendar year you send it.

If nothing else write 2018. It's less formal but depending on your style of invite that might not be a terrible thing.
