Do I add straps or leave strapless?

natalie, on January 20, 2010 at 9:23 AM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 15

My one condition when trying on wedding dresses was that it had to have straps.

But after trying on a few styles I actually warmed to the idea of strapless and ended up picking this lovely one from Watters.

I've been assured that when fitted it won't move and will sit nice and tight. But because I'm not regularly a strapless kind of gal and want to be sure I'm not fidgety all night, I was thinking of adding detachable straps (probably spaghetti).

Any thoughts? Anyone do this with their dress? Thanks, ladies!

I am in the same boat. I got detachable straps for my dress, but I am not sure I am going to use them.

Beautiful dress. i wouldn't add straps to that neckline and honestly i don't think spaghetti straps are going to "hold" anything lol. It'll just be straps for the sake of having straps. I think it's perfect as is.

I like it as is. The bridal shop will make it secure.

It is a beautiful dress. and I agree with the other ladies - with that neckline, i wouldn't add spaghetti straps. The bridal shop should make it secure.

I think the strapless is very flattering on you, and you could possibly add a cap type strap if you want, but I definetly think its great the way it is!

You look amazing! go strapless!!! my FSIL is getting married a month and a half before me and thought she'd never go strapless but then realized after trying on dresses that she really liked the strapless idea on her and the salesperson made a good point that sometimes adding straps will draw attention to those certain areas you are actually trying to hide.

If you have to have to have to add straps, thin straps that cross in the back might be ok and not take away for the dress. i wore a strapless dress and it did fall alittle. it probably should have been laced up tighter... oh well

I would get the detachable straps also, just keep in mind if you get spagehetti straps and your dancing away, the dress might mosey on down and the strap might dig in..Especially if you have a larger chest..

I can't view the dress @ work (flikr is blocked) but there are different types of straps you can add that might compliment your dress neckline..

The dress is beautiful as is....spaghetti straps would detract from the dress...make sure the dress is fitted at the waist and it won't fall down, not if it is a good quality wedding gown with boning etc......cap sleeves might work, if you must have something.
