Do bridesmaids pay for their own hair and make up?

If you are requiring them to get hair and makeup done then you should offer to pay for them. I am not making them get anything done. I let all of my girls know that we will have a HMU artist (and her assistant) there the morning of the wedding and the cost and if they'd like to get theirs done they can if not I don't mind either way. You definitely can't make them get it done and force them to pay if it doesn't fit their budget though.

If you require them to have it done, then you should pay for it. I know, it sucks. Mine is costing us $800 for myself and 2 bridesmaids. But I want to pamper them that day, so I am paying it.

Now, you could always pay for the hair and then let them know if they want their makeup done, it will be $xx. I have seen that done. But then you need to be prepared for some to not want to shell out the extra cash and do their own.

You should pay for it. I paid for everyone's hair and makeup because I wanted it professionally done and cohesive.

If you're requiring it then you pay. If not then you can make it optional for them to pay if they want.

You can offer to split it too, that’s what I’m doing. In a wedding I’m a bridesmaids the bride first offered to pay for our hair and makeup was optional, months after that she decided to make it all optional. Just stick with your decision so your bridesmaids aren’t confused as to why you changed your mind.

If you’re requiring them to have hair and makeup done, you pay. I’m paying for my girls to have their hair done, and told everyone makeup was optional and provided them pricing. Two of my girls are doing their own makeup and my sister (MOH) and Mom are paying to have their makeup done. Saves me about $400 after tip by not paying for their makeup!

I've been in 2 weddings and paid for hair & makeup myself both times, it was optional though. I just opted to get it done. I'm paying for all my bridesmaids & moms hair and makeup.

When I was a bridesmaid, the bride paid for all of our hair and makeup, and just asked that we take care of the tip.

I am paying for a portion for all my girls. Hair and Makeup is $180 per girl, so they are all paying $100 and I am paying the difference. However the last wedding I was in, it was not paid for. So I guess it just depends..

I’m covering the cost of makeup for all bridesmaids and purchasing the shoes and accessories. They were responsible for their dresses and hair. They don’t seem to have an issue with it.
