Do all members of bridal party get bouquets?

ALH, on August 12, 2015 at 12:57 AM Posted in Planning 1 29

I think I've read on here recently about all brides maid's get bouquets? Is that correct? I ask because I've never seen that done before. I think usually the bride has a bouquet and then the groom/groomsmen get boutineers? What is usually done regarding this? I've also heard of parents getting flowers as well? I'm really confused right now.

Also 5 stars, whoot!

Bride and bridesmaids get bouquets. Groom and groomsman get bouts.

Usually the parents get flowers too (dads bouts and moms corsages)

Then you can add on if there is anyone else important you want to give them to - officiant, daughter/sons, grandparents, etc.

Yes, I have my bouquet (different from my BMs). All 8 of my bridesmaids have bouquets; the groomsmen have matching bouts. (match the BMs bouquets). My FH has a bout that matches my bouquet. Then I have corsages for our mothers, and my grandmother. Bouts for my father & my brother.

Holy baby Jesus this is going to be a lot of flowers.

What about having these for the BM's and GM's? Or is this too matchy?

I did my bridesmaids fairly simple; I used two red and one white lily...added some greenery and wrapped the stems in black silk.

My BM bouquets will be baby's breath and wheat and my bouquet will be different. We are not doing bouts or corsages

No the bride's bouquet is usually different than the bridesmaids.

The bride's bouquet and groom's bout usually match or coordinate. Then the bridesmaids bouquets and groomsman's bouts usually match or coordinate.

Corsages/bouts for parents or family usually coordinate with the wedding but don't have to match the other flowers. Or they can. It's up to you.

I love that selection. I think they look great. That is the same idea I went for with mine, I just used a different color flower (of course to coordinate with my wedding colors). But that definitely looks good.

Typically, the bridesmaids' bouquets are smaller and less complex than the bride's. Below is one of our bouquets, and then our Maid of Honor's bouquet.

Usually bridesmaids will always carry something. Bridesmaids bouquets are usually smaller than the bride's. Occasionally MOH will have something in between the two. If you are concerned with cost or just don't want flowers, I've seen BM carry candles. There are many non-flower options. Honestly though I don't want the headache of finding something else for them to carry that aren't flowers.

Instead of a MOH, my brother will be my Man of Honor. He will have a boutonniere along with the GM, Best Man, Groom, and my Dad. We are skipping flowers for the mother or may go with a single stem.

You ask about BMs bouquets because you've never seen it done before? In all honesty, I'm asking -- have you ever attended a typical American wedding before? It is so normal that I'd do a double take if BMs walked the aisle without bouquets. Granted, they are smaller than the bride's bouquet, but they still relate to the bride's bouquet.

Take my word for it -- I do this almost every weekend. The bride gets a bouquet, and the groom gets a bout. The MOH gets a bouquet -- not as big as the bride's, but more elaborate than the BMs. The best man and the groomsmen all get bouts (not as elaborate as the groom's). The BMs all carry bouquets. The MOB and MOG either wear wrist or pin-on corsages. Sometimes, both moms will carry a small coordinating bouquet instead.

Lol at Centerpiece: Yes, I've been to a few weddings before.. but not for quite a minute and not since I've gotten engaged myself (over a year ago). So maybe I just wasn't paying attention all that much. Most of the time I'm more concerned with getting a parking space and coordinating all of my group so we're not late. Then I'm focused on keeping the kids from misbehaving and then waiting for the bride to come out. Perhaps I'm just oblivious. ETA: I actually just fb creeped the last person's wedding I was at and they did in fact have bouquets for all the BM's. I can't believe I didn't remember that. I am apparently oblivious. Plus I never really even concerned myself with wedding stuff until I got engaged. I'm not one of those girls who has dreamed about their wedding day since they were a little girl. Honestly, I never thought I would get married, but that's a different story! So I'm a little behind on everything! So for a 4 person BP, B&G, and three sets of parents (incl step-parents), we're looking at 12 total?

Congrats on the five stars. At every wedding I've ever been to the BM get bouquets and GM get boutonnière. The brides bouquet may or may not be the same but it's usually bigger!

I wouldn't say they all get flowers... but they're usually holding something. When my brother got married the girls held little... heck, idk how to describe them. See pic. LOL When my younger sister was married they carried fans...

OK, I think I'll speak with the florist about getting matching ones for BP + GM, and then the parents as well. My colors are purple, orange and plum.. and main flowers are calla lilies and roses so I think I can find something.

The MOH and bridesmaids will have a smaller version of my bouquet, the moms and my grandmother will have coursages. The Groomsmen will have bout's my groom will have a different colour bout, the dads will have a different colour bout as well. We are also getting them for the MC and the ushers. I'm also getting a throw bouquet so I can keep mine or have some of the flowers pressed if I want.
