dj Recommendation

Jillian , on July 10, 2019 at 1:57 PM Posted in Wedding Reception 0 7
I feel like my head is spinning trying to find a DJ for my wedding that won’t break the bank and is good! We aren’t having a super fancy wedding and don’t need any extra add ons- just great music that will keep everyone dancing and happy. I’m not into the guided dances like electric slide, nor a DJ/MC that is “annoying” 🙊 for lack a better word. Just good vibes and Obviously want someone that has a great upbeat personality and will interact somewhat, but not to the point of bothering my guests that don’t want to dance. Help!!!

This sounds a lot like most of the DJs out there these days. They are able (and should be doing it anyway) to make a playlist and party atmosphere based on you and what you like. A good DJ can read the room and make sure everyone is having fun.
That said, not sure where you're located, but we found our DJ on here. The reviews were a HUGE help.

You can definitely find a DJ to do what you want. My FH is a wedding DJ and he'll do whatever you ask of him to make sure that your day is exactly how YOU want it - whether that's fancy or casual!

Thank you!! I have found a few but I’m scared of making the wrong decision. I should just trust the reviews 🤗

Oh awesome! Who does he work for? Or is he an independent DJ?

The reviews are a great starting point - then you should definitely schedule some consultations. You want someone who listens to you, who understands what you want, and who you feel like matches your personality. Just like any other vendor, it's important that their personality fits with yours! But use the reviews on here to narrow down your search. The reviews on here were what took our search from 10 DJ companies down to deciding between 2. In the end, it came down to personality. We met our DJ and within 5 minutes of talking in person, we knew he was the one to hire.

I would definitely talk to other people who have used DJs for their weddings or events. I had no idea who to pick for ours, but my MIL suggested someone they used for her mother's 80th birthday. He wasn't as local, but his prices were way better than the ones I was looking at. Also, my FH's family all loved him when he played at the party, so I felt super confident booking with him. Most DJs can do/play or not play what you want. So I think finding someone with good recommendations and reviews is good.

You can reach out on Facebook for recommendations too. Hopefully, you know people who have had occasion to hire a DJ in your area, and can comment on the experience.

Also, when researching them, see if any are doing their thing at any public events. I wasn't worried about how good our DJ would be, as we had some solid recommendations from friends and family. But it turned out he was hosting a fundraiser, a crab feed, in our area, so we bought tickets so we could see him in action at an actual event. He was AWESOME!! Right then and there, FH and I knew we had made the right decision.
