Our DJ sadly passed away unexpectedly. We really liked him and his personality.


His wife emailed us and said she will honor our contract and has a backup DJ. I looked at his social media and I have a feeling we won't like him as our DJ, we do want to meet him first though.If he isn't who we want, how do we go about asking for our deposit back? There isn't anything in our contract about this of course, so I'm not sure if we will get it back. And I feel really insensitive asking a grieving widow for our money back...
Does anyone else have any experience with this?

    Oh wow! Really sorry to hear about your DJ. What a sad situation. I do think it’s nice that the wife offered a back up. I guess all you can do is meet with him and see if you all click. If not, I think you could kindly explain how much you liked your original DJ (offering a lot of positive reasons) and then explain that you’d instead prefer to receive your deposit back and seek a new DJ on your own.

    Honestly, I would simply meet up with the one his wife is recommending. See how you like him first before worrying about this!

    Wow, sorry about that!
    I'd tell the widow thank you for the offer, sorry for her loss, the last thing you want to do in this time of grief is to burden her with the logistics of honoring the contract. Ask her to return the deposit and you'll find a DJ on your own so she can deal with more important things
