dj or no Dj?

Makenna, on April 7, 2022 at 6:26 AM Posted in Wedding Reception 2 15
I want to do a DJ, but I’m having a small wedding with mostly older guests in a smaller room. I don’t know if a DJ is necessary but I want it to be a fun party feel for guests and us.

I'm not sure how small your wedding is, but I went to a wedding that was just family, so mostly adults aged around 60 that had about 20 people and I didn't feel like we missed out on music. I would base it on your crowd, but I don't think a DJ would be necessary.

That would definitely be tough to fill a dance floor, especially with older people so I don't think you would need a DJ. I'm not a big dancer though

Same, my family isn’t full of dancers. My fiancés family is so we’re trying to meet in the middle a little 😂

What is the demographic of dancers? Do you plan to have a first dance? If you want any dancing, look on Thumbtack.com for a dj. Otherwise just play ambient music in the background. Guests will have fun even if they don’t dance, by catching up with other guests in attendance.

Thank you! The guest list is older pretty much, but I want the traditional dances and my fiancé likes dancing in general.

In that case, get the dj. They can always play music that suits everyone

I would feel out your guest list and if it's small enough wedding, you could get away with having no DJ and possibly hooking up a device to have a playlist of wedding music.

We are in a similar situation. I don't foresee much dancing. I picked out some music that I wanted played and had a dj on Fivver remix it to make it flow better and we are just going to play it on a speaker. If people want to dance-great, but I don't know how many actually will.

Ask about a speaker. Many people don’t know to ask, but ask the venue if they have speakers and make a playlist. It’s what we’re doing.

You can always make a play list and buy a speaker or ask the venue if they have speakers!
