dj Dilemma

Cynthia, on June 15, 2019 at 1:59 PM Posted in Wedding Reception 0 9
In my mind I had always envisioned having a bilingual DJ at our wedding reception (I'm hispanic, my fiancé is white) but now that we're looking at DJs I'm not sure if that will be the case. There are only a handful of DJs in our area and the only one that is bilingual is the most expensive. I have relatives coming from Mexico to our wedding, so their English is not the best. I wanted a bilingual DJ there to make announcements in Spanish so that my family wouldn't be completely confused as to what's going on. Should I spend the extra money for the expensive DJ or go with someone more affordable and hope for the best?

If it’s within the budget, yes I would invest in making sure your family feels included. Have you ever been in a situation where you understand little to nothing of what’s going on? It’s not pleasant

I think it may be worth the splurge. Another option is to see if one of the nine bilingual DJs would be willing to work with an MC and find a bilingual MC. MCs don’t generally cost as nearly as much as DJs and depending on how big of a price difference is between the more higher priced DJ it may be worth it

I think it would be worth the extra money. It would help your family feel included and they can enjoy the day with you. I couldn't imagine not be able to understand what is going on.

I'm not sure what the cost difference is. But if its excessive, could you look into hiring an English DJ and a Spanish translator?
Or do you have a friend or acquaintance who could do this for you?

If he’s the only option, I’d spend the money so that my family isn’t sitting around feeling lost and left out. Or maybe go with a less expensive DJ and hire someone upbeat to interpret (just an alternate idea).

Maybe you could cut costs somewhere else like favors to make up some of the difference? Things people wouldn't really miss Smiley smile

Entertainment is very important part of reception. We have a 50/50 wedding and have made sure that the djs will be announcing in both languages.
