dj Cost

Kassondra, on November 17, 2021 at 12:34 PM Posted in Pennsylvania Planning 0 10
The next step in my planning process is to book my DJ! I have never needed a DJ before, but I just feel like the prices I've been quoted are a little ridiculous or maybe I'm just under estimating their worth? What is a typical DJ cost for ceremony music with a different set up, cocktail hour, and 5 hours of reception music with just dance floor lighting, no up lights? (I am from Central/Northeastern PA, I know that'll make a difference in price) thanks for your help!!

I'm in Los Angeles and I was looking for a DJ for about 8 hours (ceremony, cocktail, reception) with uplighting. I was also mortified at how much they were. At the same time, I didn't want to go with some of the cheaper options because they just didn't seem very good, and a bad DJ can ruin an entire wedding. The cheapest option i got that seemed like a decent DJ was $900 for 8 hrs and lights. The average I found was about $1200, with one person charging upwards of $1600!! We settled on one for $1250 which is more than I wanted to spend, but he comes highly recommended. I asked my uncle who got married about 5 years ago and they paid about $1200 as well.

Honestly, if you can't get a referral form a trusted friend of family member, check out THUMBTACK.com...you can look up DJs in your area and get an average

Hope that's helpful. Best of luck!

Thank you! I had a consultation with a highly recommended DJ from my area last night and for 5 hours TOTAL and standard dance floor lights (no uplights, monogram light, photobooth, etc) he quoted me $2,300! I about 💩 my pants! He seems very good and detailed oriented, I just wasn't anticipating spending so much.

    Hi Alisha,

I noticed you are close to the Philadelphia area - so am I! Was wondering if you could recommend your DJ/provide info (website or social media page).
