dj and Photographer?

90Bkeen, on August 24, 2018 at 2:32 PM Posted in Planning 0 7

I have an EXTREMELY low budget wedding. I was wondering if there was anyone else that has been in the same boat, and what did you do in regards to a DJ and Photographer?

When I say EXTREMELY low budget... I mean it. $1,000 is my cap.

I found a photography student who is doing our photos
We did engagements and I really like her pics
Dj wise Im doing mixed cds and either using my laptop and itunes or a regular cd player to play music I chose
Im thinking that since there are several older people there will not be much dancing anyways we just want music

Go to the local college and see if there are any photography students who would be willing to do it for free to build their portfolio. Also check Facebook Marketplace, ask if anyone would be willing to do it free or cheap for the same reason?

As far as a DJ your best bet would be to just make some playlists and recruit someone not in your immediate family to keep track of it all. Even cheap DJs in my area are $500 or more.

    Best of luck to you!

I went to Groupon for my DJ. I know Groupon takes a 50% cut of what the DJ actually receives. I researched them and looked at their social media. I contacted one and told him I saw him on Groupon and wanted to contract direct. He gave me 20% off of the Groupon price. It was a win win for both of us. He got more in his pocket and I got a great deal. And he appreciates that I contracted directly and is going to treat me better than someone who just bought a Groupon. Just a thought.

DJ - Can you skip the DJ and make a spotify list for your wedding?
Photographer - Find someone who is new and trying to build their portfolio. While you will still get incredibly beautiful photos, they will come at a drastically decreased cost.

I would create a playlist on Spotify or Itunes, download it and play it during the reception. I don't think you will find a DJ for your budget.

    College or Thumbtack for pics.

For $1000 I would just plan a courthouse wedding followed by dinner with your closest friends and family at a restaurant. You could still get a photographer student from a local college to take some nice pictures of the ceremony and you and FH.

As others have said, look into hiring a photography student that’s looking to build their portfolio. Have an intimate ceremony with a very limited guest list and host dinner at a local restaurant afterward. You can use a Spotify playlist and a speaker if you want background music, but it wouldn’t be necessary as it’s not a full reception.
