dj and Guest

Paulette, on August 6, 2019 at 5:02 PM Posted in Wedding Reception 0 14

Not quite sure how to handle this because I've never been in this situation. One of my FH good friends will be DJing our reception. Before we agreed to hire him, they were on the guest list. This is his only means of income and we are going to pay him for his service since he will not be working as he does every Saturday. (He is outstanding and giving us a discount!!) My question is, do we keep him on the guest list and pay for his plate and pay him as well? Not sure how that works. Advise.

A friend of ours is also going to be our DJ and we're giving he and his wife seats and meals. It wasn't such a big deal because he was the only "friendor" that we have right now.

I absolutely would. Most vendors we looked into required a meal anyway.

I would say yes. A friend of mine is a guest and our photographer, and another friend/guest will be our DJ if we can come up with the money

Yes you should. Also if he is a "vendor" and guest, vendor meals are normally a bit cheaper. My photographer requires one and her meal is a little bit cheaper than my other guest's meals.

We fed our DJ a vendor meal, so I'd probably feed him. He won't need prior courses or appetizers since he will be busy DJing but the entree should be provided.

I will provide all vendors (that aren't just setting something up and leaving) with a meal. My videographers, photographers, photo booth guy, etc are all being provided meals. I would say to provide a meal for him. My dad (wed DJ) has this in his contract.

Thank you for that bit of information. I didn't know that. I wonder if it's according to the venue or if that's the norm? I'll have to ask. Thank you again!

No problem. The catering company I am using just sent that over to me the other day that's the only reason I knew about it. I still have to include them in my head count but that's ok with me.

I have received a unanimous answer for the vendors eating. In this case, he is my FH friend and I had him on the guest list with his wife even before we decided to have him as the DJ. So he will get the full meal. Now I'm wondering if he's going to bring someone with him. I'll be putting this on my list of questions. Thank you.
