Dj and emcee?

I personally would want someone experienced in both aspects. If you know the DJ and their personality and think that they would be fine with announcements and introductions, go for it. If they're more reserved, it might be awkward.

We considered skipping a DJ altogether since our venue has a Bluetooth sound system and we could just make different playlists. But the MC aspect would be missing and that's why we went with a DJ. They help with the flow of the whole event and without them you'd have to tag in a friend or family member to make any sort of announcements.

Our DJ did it all but we have him a timeline and script for things. We also have him our song list that he played from. It worked out great.

My DJ acted as sort of an emcee in that he announced all the events and stuff. However ive been to weddings with a separate emcee and separate dj and I do realize it can definitely make a party more lively since the emcee can lighten the mood by being more proactive with audience.

I would see what sort of packages the company offers. With the company we are using they are our dj and photographer. Every time they book as a dj, they have a separate mc with them too.
