A cheaper one..no really. Have you checked local budget bride groups on facebook for specials?

A less expensive DJ. Continue to research. Some venues already have a hookup and sound system for a device to play music from your phone or ipod, or you can choose a list from Spotify or other music streaming service. Do keep in mind that a DJ does more than play music. He/she is usually the MC for your event, announcing spotlight dances, cake cutting, etc. They also can read a crowd and know how to get people on the dance floor or slow it down for mealtime. They can set the tone for your reception.

I would start there! Also look through the vendors on here (you can filter to the less expensive option). The dj really sets the tone for the event. & if you are having your wedding somewhere other than a church you may want to utilize them also for the ceremony.

Hi Jamie! The only other alternative to a DJ is to see if the venue has a sound system already in place for you to hook up a phone or iPod to! If you end up going with that option, you need to make sure you have someone who can control the flow of the reception, as in introducing the wedding party and you, announcing toasts, meals, etc! Have you not been able to find a reasonably priced DJ yet?

I agree, you can see if the place you're getting married has a hook up for a sound system. Then if you have a friend or family member who's a social butterfly, they usual make the best djs, i would ask them to announce you and kind of keep a eye on the playlist. Just be cautious, because of they start drinking they may forget about the music Smiley heart

My best advice is to find the cheapest one. I have been to weddings where they do their own music and it just isn't the same vibe. If you don't care about that then by all means, but I want a lot of people on the dance floor!

You might check with your venue, sometimes they can add one for cheap! ( only know from recent experience!) If not they may have a sound system that they will let you use, and if you know someone that could work it, you can ask them!

I got lucky, my uncle owns a recording studio and DJs some!

I downloaded my entire playlist. I organized it into different "mini-playlists" (arrival, processional, cocktail hour, dinner music, dance music, cake cutting, etc.) My venue has songs. The app is compatible with iTunes. However, I did find out through research that you can rent speakers and a microphone (don't forget about the microphone for your ceremony) from a local music store if your venue is not equipped with a sound system. Good luck!
