diy Tent or Professional?

Stodges2024, on July 6, 2023 at 11:56 PM Posted in Do It Yourself 0 4

Hi,

I am planning a backyard wedding on November 1st, 2024 in Savannah, GA. Getting a professional tent is expensive, and honestly me and my fiance don't even like the look of having a tent, so we don't really want to spend money on a professional tent, only to maybe put it up in case of rain.

I was looking on sites like Amazon where you can buy a 20x40 size tent, that you put up yourself and has walls and windows. Here is a picture of one I am considering:

Has anyone else decided to go this route and find it worked just fine, or is it really worth it to have a professional tent in case of rain?

So my family member got married outside and bought their own tents just in case. The weather started to turn so they put them up but even with mild wind and rain they kept blowing and they couldn't get them to stay in the ground. It was a bit of a disaster! They ended up having to shove 70 people into a small home and there was no room to move or mingle. Luckily their neighbours were kind (and invited to the wedding) so half of the wedding guests went to the neighbours house and brought some of the food and drinks to that house.

Anyway, in their case a lot of hassle would've been saved had they just let the pros do it.

I used to put up and take down tents for festivals. It's hard and frustrating if you're not familiar with the tent and it takes several people. It should also be anchored to the ground and put up at least a q day before so the ground underneath isn't wet if it rains.

It’s definitely worth it to just get the professional tents and not the one on amazon you don’t want to take any chances of anything ruing your big day
