I always start with drawing (or in this case taping) a straight line. You could look into stencils and tape them to the glass to use them. I am repeatedly told I have pretty hand writing but I hate my hand writing lol.

I would print out the font I want to use on plain white paper, tape it to the inside, and trace it with a sharpie or paint! Just remove the paper&tape after and it'll be just how you want it!

I was going to do the same thing Amy said and print out the font I want to use on a piece of paper and then use it like a stencil with the sharpie. I'm doing this for glass lanterns so definitely let me know how it holds up! I'm nervous about them smudging but stickers are so much more money!!!

I don't know where you live, but I know a girl on Long Island who does stickers for a semi okay price. I got stickers for my soap dispensers for like 5 bucks each?
