DIY Reception Cards - Is This a Tacky Idea??

C + R, on December 31, 2013 at 3:30 PM Posted in Planning 0 10

I found the PERFECT wedding invitations and response cards on zazzle.com. However, there aren't matching reception cards for the design I've chosen-- and I need them. I'm debating either 1) printing my own reception cards on lavender cardstock (the invitations are "chalkboard" colored with lavender writing)-- it will be obvious & intentional that they weren't meant to match the invites, or 2) trying to fit the reception location/time information on the invitation itself. I feel like both of those options might be tacky though. Thoughts? What would you do in this situation??

Have you tried to contact them to see if you can order extra enclosures? What about ordering extra "Response" cards and changing the wording so that it becomes a reception card?

Out of your 2 options, I think option 1 is better Smiley smile

I think it'd be ok to put the reception place/time on the invitation. Anything extra would have to be on a different card. So something like " Person A and Person B invite you to celebrate their wedding at Place C at Time D. A reception will follow at Place E.

Otherwise I agree with Amanda, try making your own. Try out a few different designs and see which ones match nicely

I would first contact zazzle and see if they can do reception cards to match.

If that's not possible than I would DIY. I don't think that would be tacky.

I had the same problem with the template for my DIY invites I got. So I made my own and you can till they don't match perfectly but they still look good. I saw another bride do what I did and it looked great so I copied what she did.

Here are what mine look like.

You could always find a similar set on Etsy and ask the designer to sell you the response cards only.

@misscountrylace I love the "heck yes!" option on your rvsp cards. Very fun and cute!

Do you have a picture of the invitation? I can see if maybe I can match it!

I don't think it's a big deal. I designed my invitations and printed them through VP. I designed and printed at home my RSVP cards, menu cards, and all other inserts. I don't see why they need to match perfectly

Can you incorporate something off the invite that matches closely? If we can see a photo of it, we may be able to give you some suggestions on how to tie them together.
