diy Projects!

What’s your biggest DIY project?
Growing up my parents were DIY pros, subsequently my siblings are great at it. I never thought I had their creativity. My mom and big sister are making all my centerpieces, my dad is doing a tradition arch and a circle arch for my day.
Everything they’re doing is saving me thousands, and I’m truly grateful!!
Now that my parents realize my FH is pretty handy, they want him to build a few things as well.
This morning as I was drawing a few sketches for my FH, I couldn’t help but laugh to myself, because I thought I would never use geometry again after high school, and here I am using it. Lol 😆

That’s a big undertaking. Did you make one for each guest?

Biggest DIY project is homemade candles for our guests. I have wonderful ideas but making them a reality is not my thing.

Our biggest (and most expensive) DIY are the centerpieces. But they're all packed away with pictures, so all the venue staff needs to do in unwrap and set them on the tables.

I made my centerpieces (vase, two candles, wood slab and wood burned table number), yard games (cornhole, jenga and ring toss), “guest book”, mirror welcome sign, seating chart on old windows and a couple other odds and ends. I don’t know which one was biggest but let me tell you, I’m glad to be done with them finally! 🥴

Centerpieces for sure! Hobby Lobby has garland on sale right now y'all!! We have a florist for our wedding but we are also incorporating some DIY to save money and give the tables more life. I just bought my 32 feet of Magnolia leaves and Magnolia flower garlands for my King table for $135!! We will use this material as the base and grow on it with combinations of pink silk flowers inserted into the garland. We are also using ceramic birds that glow on all of our tables to show some homage to our love for aviation without a single airplane being around. Still need to get the hurricane candles and glass surrounds as well as something to add height to the king table and every other guest table. 11 months to go!!

That's a great idea to pre-wrap them and have directions for the staff. Definitely, less stressful for you.

Sounds like you have been very business. Did you work on it everyday? I have about 16 months, which is quite a bit of time to get it done.

I started casually working on things here and there a few months ago. I would just spend a couple hours once or twice a week. I procrastinated a few things though and had to work on stuff basically every day for the last couple weeks though!

Me? No! My FH is the candle making person in our house. I know the basics though. Wax, wicks and scents. We decided not to add color and just leave them white.

Thank you. Smiley laugh The picture I posted will be the one for the staff with some minor adjustments from the mock up.
