diy Photo Booth?

Megan, on June 6, 2024 at 7:16 PM Posted in Do It Yourself 0 5

Hi everyone! Wondering if anyone is currently working on this or did in the past. My thought was to DIY a photo backdrop (versus having a photo booth/attendant)- I know there are a million things on pinterest and amazon. Just buying a stand and using curtains/lights/fake flowers. My thought was to use a Polaroid camera and have it set up next to the backdrop so people can have pictures taken and will still have that traditional photobooth feel to it. Im not sure if this is actually cost saving, but I really want a photo booth type thing but I don't know if paying $1000+ is worth it because I dont think my guests will use it.

I will say our dj offered it as an add-on option for a discounted rate and it was 100% worth it. We also received a digital version of every photo taken that we could share. They also had a book guests could stick a copy of one of the print outs and then sign for us to keep. Every single one of our guests used it. It was especially nice for those that didn't want to dance because they still had something fun to participate in.

I would price everything out to see if it would actually save you money. Also don't forgot someone has to be responsible for setting this up and tearing it down so even if it's cheaper do you want to add on another thing you'd be responsible for whereas if you hired someone to do it you wouldn't have to worry about any extra headache.

We set out two polaroids next to a simple backdrop with a little sign and some sharpies. A lot of people used it and most of the photos they took are amazing! We also had a little french board set up on a tabletop easel to display the photos. My groom and I were the first to take a couple of silly selfies to get the ball rolling! People had fun with it and it wasn't expensive.

After... I mounted them on the blank pages of our wedding album.

We downloaded Fun2Booth and set up an iPad. It was a BIG hit. That app has a party mode which is perfect for "Set it and forget it" at a wedding (i.e. we didn't need an attendant). It also saves all photos to your device so you can look at them after your wedding. (Guests can email themselves their pictures)

Do you think there is an android version of this? I don't have an iPad but that sounds great.
