So I absolutely love this idea. We are getting married in a backyard with a fence almost identical to this one. I’m not sure how to attach the lights to the fence without drilling holes in it. It’s not my backyard so I don’t want to do any damage to their fence. Any suggestions?

Could You Use Clear Command Hooks Or Clear Thumb Tacks?

If they don't want any holes in their fence you could use zip ties around the lights and a fence post.

You can also acheive this by wrapping the light strand around the post a few times

I was afraid the clear command hooks wouldn’t stick to the wood.

I might actually try this... I don’t think you’ll see them right?

When it is dark you wont see them at all. They make different colors of zip ties so I would just try to find some that match the color of the wire of the lights or just use the black zip ties. They are hard to see.

I would think some sort of clips would work if there’s a lip at the top of the fence. Zip ties could be an option too. Also I think command hooks should work on wood, just remember the instructions give a waiting period before hanging something. So far I’ve only found the command hooks don’t work well with wallpaper (risks pulling the paper off the wall) or cinderblocks. Although I just remember we use hot glue at school to post things on our walls. It sometimes pulls off paint, so I wouldn’t use it if the fence is painted but afterwards you should be able to pull the glue off without damaging the wood. If you want I could try the hot glue out on wood here at home and see what happens when I remove it.
