I know you can buy some cute editable templates on Etsy for a pretty reasonable price, or there seems to be a few free ones on Pinterest: link

I also had pinned but didn't try them out here and here

I made some fans recently and honestly used the MS Word template that was supplied by the paper company for the postcards that I purchased, plus some inspiration from other designs.

    Hope the links work.

I did this for a wedding and it was a nightmare! It was not for my wedding, but for a friend. Putting the paddles together wasn’t necessarily the worst part - but the cutting was AWFUL - and I had 3 people helping! I recommend spending extra to get them assembled, it would have been 100% worth the money. By the time I bought all the tape, paper, scissors (cheap scissors suck for thick paper that is better for holding up/looking professional), I had spent about the same amount if I would have just paid for them to be put together. Also - I am pretty crafty and have diy’ed a lot - but this is something that I definitely wished I would have avoided.

I used a template off of etsy that was edited for me. Sidenote - the fan that we made was in the shape of a mason jar, so that was part of the reason the cutting was so tedious and each paddle needed two jars (front & and to cover the back of the paddle). Maybe if you working with a square shape that can easily be cut in large quantities with a paper cutter (or even a cricut. But I still recommend on spending the extra to get them made for you! I have seen the option for digital print and assembled on etsy.

Quilterscache.com has quilting patterns , many patterns with fans. On a pattern like Grandmother's Fan or That Wonderful or Dresden Plates, Japanese Fan, there will be a link to printable templates on the upper right. Example: http://www.quilterscache.com/G/GrandmothersFanBlock.html but because the site is not indexed , go to Bing.com, the Microsoft search engine, and search keywords: Fan quilters cache. Click to images, and when you seen an interesting fan, press on picture and go to the website page. Don't use Google, they bring up too many extraneous pics like people who made quilts etc. You just want fan templates. Also search quilting sites for fan pattern templates. Crafts stores that sell quilting stencils usually have a few fans on plastic sheets with slits for lines to trace to make fans of many sizes and types..

Not free, but zazzle has some that aren't terribly pricey.
