Diy or not ? 🤷🏻‍♀️

Yesenia, on November 12, 2019 at 10:51 PM Posted in Style and Décor 0 12
I am getting married April 11th. I was set on doing most of the work (I decorate for a living) buuuttt do I really want to decorate everything myself ? 🤷🏻‍♀️ I’m doing our save the dates, invitations, centerpieces, favors and signs. Should I just hire someone to set the tables and drapery? I’m torn 😩

I feel just depending on how much you can do in advance and how stressed you could feel. It might be a lot to do for one person, If you feel this would give you a lot of stress I would hire someone to do some things

Ohhh I reaaaally suggest hiring someone. The whole family on both sides came to decorate a day early (entire day) for my brother and SIL's wedding and it was still noooot easy. For our wedding, I'm going to be having our catering team and coordinator do all this as it's part of their service... *Really* looking forward to it after knowing how much stress it put on my SIL and her mother when they tried to handle it all themselves.

But for you, I suppose it depends how much it really involves. A very very intimate wedding of 20 and you can get in the day before, maybe it's OK?

I would assume you don't want to be stressed (and sore the next day from) setting up every single table from scratch, mantlepiece decor, gift card table, welcome sign, etc the day before your wedding! It might not sound like a lot now, but I can tell you that it is.

We are doing almost all ourselves as well . We having it catered but the decorating is all us . I am going with a Rustic theme and doing a bunch of DYI stuff . I found a lot of really cute things and ideas on line . I just ordered a few super cute things .

I would say if you can afford it then go ahead and hire someone to do the decorating and the final steps for you. It seems like you were saving a lot of money upfront by doing so much yourself that hiring someone to do this might be helpful for you and give you time to relax in the end.

Definitely hire someone professional (and not family/friends). No need in working on your wedding day.

Thank you! Even with family help I think we would indeed still be stressed.

Thank you. I was thinking of having our families help but your right I definitely don’t want us to tired or sore. And we are having 130 guest! So it’ll definitely be stressful!

I would get a DOC. I would set up a time for you to mockup exactly how you want thing and let her take pictures. Then I would let the DOC handle it the day off. It can still be all of your ideas and vision, but she can execute on the day and you can enjoy yourself!

I think it depends on how large your wedding will be, how much time you have to decorate beforehand, how elaborate you want to decorate, how much help you’ll have to decorate, etc. We had a wedding of less than 100 and got to decorate the day before. The ironing of tablecloths and runners along with tying twine with tags to the “silverware” took the most time. Decorating and cleaning up post decoration also required a lot of help, but we did it all ourselves.

I would recommend to have someone do that for you. You can always have pictures and instructions if you want it an specific way but you want to be the bride that day and not have to worry about set up. You should be enjoying the moment by getting pamper and ready.

I think for tables and drapery, hiring someone is more ideal

That's a pretty big wedding! I think it'll be worth it to have set-up/break-down either included with your caterer or hire outside people to help. And then you can just give detailed instructions and photo examples so it's all done the way you want it. Smiley smile
