diy Invitations

Amy, on December 6, 2021 at 9:38 PM Posted in Do It Yourself 3 17
I’m looking for recommendations on sites where I can create my own invitation and have them printed or for ideas on how to do it the least expensive way.

Shutterfly or canva have a design your own option. Shutterfly also runs sales frequently that help keep the costs down.

Canva is a good one! My husband's cousin made our wedding invitations, and I don't know how she did it, but she was able to create it on Microsoft Word lol. I'm guessing she just bought some blank cards from Michael's or off of Amazon.

I designed and printed mine through Canva. I spent just under $40 for 50 invitations on their deluxe paper with envelopes. They have pre-made templates or you can design your own so you have options on how much effort you want to put into them yourself. I'm really happy with the quality, here's my save the date for example. diy Invitations 1

We also used Canva! We printed through Catprint because I could samples of their paper ahead of time, and while they have envelopes you can purchase when you print, I got my envelopes from Paper Source because I was picky about the color. We spent just over $80 on 40 cards ($35ish), 40 envelopes ($25ish), and 40 stamps ($20ish).

Also, look on Etsy for stamps! I just bought 5 sheets of 20 for $38. I think I said in a previous post that I spent just under $70 instead of $80, but that would stand if I had found the stamps before I sent out save the dates! Also I broke stuff out differently in my budget spreadsheet than what the full purchase amount was.

I loved using Canva. I looked on Etsy for designs I liked and combined the elements of a few of them to get exactly what I wanted for our announcements, BUT as mentioned Canva has great templates! You can also get a digital template off Etsy and then get them printed at a local shop or from Catprint.

Canva allows you to design your own. However it takes a lot of consistent practice to get to used to the features and how they work.

There are thousands of wedding invite templates you can switch out your information or design something from scratch.

We had a template made on Etsy. She did our invitations, rsvp and details card. It's very inexpensive and then we printed the file ourselves.

My fiance and I picked a template out on Etsy- I think the invitation suite is around $15 from PlusOneStyle. Once I pull the trigger, I'll have a whole year to access the template via a web editing portal, and I have free reign to change the text, fonts, ect. and save it to my computer for printing at home or trough a print shop. There is also options for matching sign templates, and other miscellaneous stationary! The shop often has sales, and has a standing deal for a discount after you buy a few templates. I just haven't bought mine yet as I was waiting for the one-year mark before my wedding to buy it so I have time to access it until day-of.

I've also heard good things about Canva! One of my girlfriends used Canva for her invites and they were beautiful.

After doing tons of research, I ended up using MagnetStreet for all of my wedding stationary, and while it wasn’t completely DIY like some other vendors, I was able to customize pretty much everything on the invitations, from the font to the color of the envelope flap: https://www.magnetstreet.com/shop/wedding-invitations

The invitations and save the date cards ended up being extremely affordable, and came out better than any of the samples I had gotten from other places. While they may have ended up being a little more expensive than true DIY options, I’m not a crafty person and anything I did myself wouldn’t have lived up to what I had in my head.

Right now they have 75% off and free shipping till January 4. I have been periodically checking the website since I ordered my STD in October and I consistently see them running the 75% off sale.

We did our invitations thru Etsy. We found someone who could make the design and she sent us the file and we printed them out at Staples.
