diy flowers

Jessie, on March 22, 2019 at 12:46 AM Posted in Style and Décor 0 15
We're not going to hire a florist so we can cut costs. I want to make the bouquets, boutonnieres, center pieces, etc. with my bridesmaids and the moms. We're a pretty crafty bunch but I'm nervous they won't turn out. I was thinking of doing some practice bouquets and arrangements. Does anyone have any tips, tricks or advice on DIY flowers?

Making a mini practice bouquet is a good idea. It is a good idea to research flowers that go together and how to arrange flowers for each idea. Personally, I'm mixing artificial and real flowers to cut more costs while still keeping a delicate look.

I made boutonnières and corsages using silk flowers I got on sale at michaels. I watched a few YouTube videos and found it very easy. My original plan was for these to be practices but since I was able to knock out 6 boutonnières and 2 corsages in a few hours on a Sunday I’m just gonna use them. Will save me time the day before our wedding.

Did you look at hobby lobby as well or just michaels. I’m wondering who has the better flowers.

We used the sola flowers and they are beautiful! Not to mention they are wood flowers which i think is really cool! so far they have been really easy to work with and if you buy from Sola.com you can buy a whole bouquet with everything you need in one pack which was helpful in deciding what I wanted it to look like. I will say shipping took a while though!

Good luck and post pics when you are done! Smiley smile

We used Flower Moxie for most of our flowers and before we officially decided if it was something we could do, I ordered a smaller amount from Flower Moxie so my mom and I could practice. It was also a good way for us to figure out quantity and what worked/didn't. We ended up ordering from them and the flowers came in on Wednesday before the wedding and I think on Friday morning my mom got the boutonnieres and corsages put together and we also got flowers separated for each of the bouquets and she actually put those together Friday evening. To me it was 100% worthwhile to save a couple thousand dollars vs what I was quoted.

I'm doing the same and getting mine mostly from Costco, Produce Junction, and Fiftyflowers.com (they have awesome reviews and inspiration on the website)!! I'd love to know how yours goes, I'm a little nervous, but-think it will be more special.

Also, the day before the wedding I am having a "flower party" with my close girlfriends and providing lunch and mimosas so we can make centerpieces and bouquets!! Smiley heart Good luck!

I started my bouquets and boutonnieres ( wanted lots of time to practice and perfect). I bought sola wood flowers and dyed them my colors and started arranging. Its been a fun process! As long as you don't glue(or tie if doing real flowers) it all together right away you can make adjustments as needed!
