diy Flowers

Shana, on March 19, 2020 at 12:08 AM Posted in Do It Yourself 0 20

Hi Brides!

Curious on your thoughts of DIY silk flowers and using an event company that also does flowers. Is it tacky? I just feel like this is so expensive in the budget and can't shake spending so much on something that is disposable. Can I have the wedding planner make sure my DIY flowers go up in style, or is this totally out of the question?

Thanks in advance for your help!

Mine are silk & I arranged them myself Smiley smile this is my bouquet. Just warning you, though...if you don’t get silks on sale...they might wind up being more expensive than real. The big English roses in my bouquet were like $8/stem originally. Luckily I bought almost everything at 60% off at Michaels & some stems 50% off at hobby lobby. This entire bouquet was under $100, but would have EASILY cost $200+ from a florist.

Thank you! I actually own a cut flower farm, but didn’t want to have the stress of growing and arranging my own fresh flowers the days before my wedding. Plus, my silks will never wilt & I can sell them all after our wedding is over! There are quite a few options for artificial flowers these days. People make them out of sola wood, paper, and even bottle caps!

Like many other have said, silk flowers are such good quality now! A great way to incorporate artificial flowers is doing submerged floral arrangements. I plan on doing this myself! I'm going with very simple flowers (a lavender themed wedding), so I'm growing my own lavender at home. It's such a hardy plant, that it's hard to mess up! I'm getting married in a botanical garden, so there really isn't a need for me to go all-out with flowers when we'll be surrounded by them, haha.

I did my own, cause I’m ocd and a little crazy haha, but I really liked how they turned out! All about picking ones that you don’t think look too fake for what you’re hoping for and I took pictures with a good camera to get an idea of how they’d translate in photos before I bought them!

I looked at alot of pictures on Pinterest and found bouquets that I liked. I tried to find similar flowers that were in the bouquets I liked. I went to Michael's and bought all my flowers discounted (they have alot of coupons and lots of sales) I dont think I spent over 30 on my flowers. They are all from Michael's. I put them all together the best I could since you can only compress them so much. I don't like the stems of fake flowers, at least the ones I bought from Michael's. So I wrapped them Smiley smile hope this helps!

We’re doing a mixture of silk flowers for decorations and real flowers from a florist for our bridal party bouquets. I wanted to be able to preserve my real flower bouquet after the wedding but didn’t want to buy everything else from the florist. It’s saved a lot of money especially if you can get the silk flowers when they go on clearance after the holidays. This is my center piece idea I created using silk flowers. Something this size could’ve easily been over $100 through a florist but only cost me about $30 for each one. Just be careful because one thing I ran in to is a lot of florist don’t like you using diy along with their floral services. I was turned away from some florists.diy Flowers 6
