diy Floral Centerpieces

Has anyone done their own centerpieces using artificial florals? I had my design meeting with my wedding planner for my wedding in November and we decided on colors and how the overall set up will look. I would prefer to put my own together ahead of time so that our planner can just set things on tables the day of the wedding. The photo I’ve attached is a “rough draft” general idea of what it will look like - taken at the design meeting. The florals we are actually using aren’t the exact colors pictured- but they’re similar. (These were our planner’s florals- I purchased my own)

We have large round tables - in the center will be between 3-5 glass hurricane cylinders with pillar candles - staggered in height, possibly additional tea lights. Around the cylinders will be greenery, wildflowers, dried florals, and spindly-type plants/reeds. It’s a muted autumnal jewel-tone color scheme.

Anyway, I was wondering if anyone has put anything similar together. Did you use garlands that you secured into wreaths and then added your own florals/tucked your own florals in? (That’s how my planner set the displays up in these photos)
Did you use actual wreaths and then add your florals? Did you use rings of floral foam and create your own?

ust looking for advice, tips/tricks. I do a lot of DIY, I have an Etsy shop, I am very familiar with most crafting mediums- BUT I’ve never created anything with florals. 😄 Haha - so any expertise in this arena is welcome and appreciated! Thanks in advance!

I've a feeling that if you found wreaths it would be a lot easier to do. But I know garland can also be way cheaper at stores.

Thank you, Melle! I have that feeling too. I’m keeping my eye out for sales at craft stores for both.

Floral foam is often used to make a wreath but it may take more florals to cover the foam part. What type of garland wreath would you be looking for?

    Hi Monique,

I’m wondering if I should make wreaths from garlands or just buy wreaths- or really the best way to go about making these things. I have a couple of garlands already that I can use to try a few different idea out: one is a boxwood, one is mixed greenery, and one is eucalyptus.

I would prefer them to be mixed greenery - I
like the look of the fern-like/ivy garland that is in the first picture I posted. It was a garland that my planner had and we just wrapped it in a circle and stuck flowers in it to get an idea of the look we were going for. Again, that was just a real quick mock up - so it looks messier than it would when we finish.

Anyway, I’ve attached a couple pictures of some of the greenery that I’m considering. Our venue is an estate with a huge garden- mostly greenery with huge trees - which is where the ceremony will take place. I’m pretty open to the types of greenery... just not really sure where to start with this haha
