So my best friends dad is letting us use his DJ equipment for the wedding. We are saving about $1,000 by doing our own music. My biggest problem is making sure we have enough music variety. Me and FH love county. I know country isn’t everyone’s cup of tea. How would you go about having a good variety? We also like people like maroon 5 and the Jonas brothers (their new music)

You can look up "wedding playlists" or even have a little option on your invite for people to write a song request! I made a playlist on Spotify and it gives similar song recommendations to what you've already added which really helps beef up a playlist with some variety.

Oh that makes sense! Unfortunately we originally were going to have a dj so we didn’t add the song suggestion to the invites. We would have dropped that $1,000 on him but then he ghosted us 🙄

You could also ask your guest for any recommendations or things that they wanna hear

We added a line on our RSVP cards with our invitations, asking for song requests. Some of our guests filled it out, some left it blank. But it's a good way to make sure songs that your guests want to hear are played!

I wish I would have done that before ordering our rsvp cards. My sister suggested a song suggestion book at the dj table

I'm so sorry! We asked our guests for song suggestions on our invites and most of them just left it blank so it didn't really help us. I love country music, but if you want it to be more of a party atmosphere then country music might not be the way to go. Honestly, I think to have a party atmosphere a DJ is the best option otherwise there might not be a lot of dancing. I would look up popular reception songs and make a playlist with those songs. The hard part is you won't have anyone to read the room to decide what song would work best next which is what a DJ would handle.

Technically I will. My friends step dad is manning it for us and he has been a dj and parties before

Oh okay. Here's the link our DJ provided to us to help us select songs for our processional, first dance, grand entrance, etc. It might give you idea of songs that you'd want to include on your playlist.
