diy Brides- How’d You Do It?!

Megan, on March 22, 2021 at 9:13 AM Posted in Do It Yourself 2 8
All of my DIY people out there!! How did you make it happen?! Any DIY project that I want to do, I know that I can make it happen myself, but how did you get it all set up at your wedding location the day of?! Did you hire someone in charge of set up, or have family and friends who helped out?! We’re working on a tight timeframe, and while we won’t have TOO much diy (centerpieces and such will be from a florist) I just can’t figure out how to make it all work! We can’t get into the venue until about 2 hours before start time. Any advice would be great!!!

My venue has a day of coordinator who will take care of all step up for us! Have you checked with your venue yet if they offer that at all? Otherwise, if it's in your budget you'll be better off hiring a DOC to take care of set-up for you. If it's not in your budget, then maybe ask close friends or family members to take charge of set up.

The only thing I am DIYing are my centerpieces, (about 5 thrifted brass candlesticks and dripless taper candles per table - so I collected A LOT of them). And I am dropping off the boxes of them to the venue two days before. The DOC and her team at the venue with put them around the tables. If i need to email her a picture of my "vision", than i'll do that. Basically just antique candlesticks, everywhere.

My venue has a wedding coordinantor who is assigned to each couple along with several attendants. We were told centerpieces must be already put together and when we bring in whatever needs to be set up the week of it has to come along with very detailed instructions to follow. We’re also going to get clear boxes and label them for each purpose and attach instructions to the top of each bin. Here’s a good picture of what we will do.

I am DIYing everything and do not have a DOC. because I am getting married at a private farm vs a regular venue, Id have to hire one third party. Instead I am relying pretty heavily on my friends and family, plus my organizational skills. I love the labeled bins idea above. I also created a print out for each area (cake table, centerpieces, tent decor ect) with Inpso pictures and photos of my actual decor. that way each person helping can get assigned an area and have images to help them. don't be afraid to ask for help!

*attached example is for the cake table

Yes! This is what I'm doing too lol. My wedding is at a family farm and we have 45 mins to transition from wedding ceremony to reception area using all the same chairs and decor. It's a rearrangement game and decor. Labeled boxes are lifesavers
