diy Book Center Pieces

So we are going to have flowers coming out of the books. Trying to figure out the best way to paint them. Need to get that done in the next couple weeks because I'm running out of time! Don't know where all my time went.

When lying flat the flowers will be inside and with the lid open those will hold the names of the tables. I found clear 8.5 X 11 sheets of labels so I can stick on the book. Do I spray paint, hand paint, a combination? Anyone else doing something similar or tried it before?

I agree that spray painting would be best.

Are you going to be painting the whole book the same color? If so, spray paint is definitely going to be easiest on you!

All on color would definitely make my life easier but since I kind of want to make it look like a book I was thinking the "pages" should be one color and the rest of it another.

Spray a base over it, let it dry. The on side paint a different color the raised edges. Name it Table One, or what you think would fit. On top, I would add a table number or name if that’s what your thinking. I would have some sort of swirl or decoration too.

I'm doing books as centerpieces too! But mine are stacks of hardback books with ribbon wrapped around them and a small bouquet of handmade book page flowers.

If you want the pages to be white, I'd suggest spray painting your base color, then handpaint the sides white. You might be able to spray paint the white too, but that would take some finagling with painters tape & newspaper to keep overflow from getting on the rest of the book.

Spray paint would be quicker but I would worry that the spray paint would be too wet and cause the cardboard shell to bubble. I would test the back of one and see how it does before you do them all or you can just hand paint them and not worry about it.

I agree that the spray paint might be too wet or at least it is when I use it! Smiley xd

So here is a sample of one of my books (minus flowers and book title). I did use spray paint for the bulk of it and then acrylic for the details. Already spay painted all of them. Some purple and some blue. Now to add details to the rest.
