diy Bar help

Samantha, on February 4, 2020 at 7:46 PM Posted in Wedding Reception 0 7
Our wedding is July 11th, 2020 and our venue doesn't have liquor license but they do provide a bartender (included). We have the choice to either get alcohol from a caterer or we can bring in our own. We have decided to bring in our own since we know that it'll be cheaper. This is what we've decided:

Beer: Bud light, Budweiser, Miller Lite
Wine: One red and one white
Signature drinks: Vodka Cranberry and Rum and Coke
So, we have invited 200 guests but we obviously don't have a final count. My side of the family, with the exception of a few, will probably only have 1-2 glasses of wine. While my fiance's family and most of our friends will likely be drinking heavily. We set the ceremony for 3:00, meaning guests will probably be in the reception hall by 4:00 and we have to stop serving alcohol at 11pm.
Problem is, I can't find a drink calculator that allows you to break it down to a bar like ours 😭 has anyone had any experience with this? Or have any advice? I plan on getting a bottle rum and a bottle of vodka every other week with my paycheck for the next few months until I feel like I have enough, but I'd rather have too much of everything vs not enough.
Thanks to anyone who read through all of that 🤣

Is there anywhere that you can buy the liquor and return the unused bottles once the wedding is over? I think Total Wine does that (though in my state they are not allowed to sell liquor, that’s controlled by the state).

Remember, if your venue doesn’t have the liquor license that means you, the event host, need to apply for and secure the liquor license and/or permit.

Total Wine can't sell in my state 😭 but because it'll be an "open" bar vs. a cash bar, we don't need a permit. We just need to get insurance for the day.

Here is a good calculator https://www.evite.com/pages/party/drink-calculator
You can put in the amount of light, moderate, or heavy drinkers and the types of drinks for the set # of hours.

I've looked at that but it that's for a full bar, I was looking more for a limited bar with only wine, beer, and 2 liquor options. But I think we'll just try to stock up on what we can ahead of time.

Hey date twin! We thought about using an alcohol calculator but we also know many people will bring their own coolers. We're going to do around 3 30 packs per beer and some wine and once we run out, that's it.

We're expecting around 250 guests and not all will drink alcohol.

I really like this one! It accounts for light/moderate/heavy drinkers and lets you pick from beer, wine, and signature drinks. Hope it helps!
