Divorced parents, daddy daughter dance

Sabrina , on May 26, 2017 at 4:31 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 4

My parents got divorced when I was 2, my mom got remarried when I was 3 so my step dad has been in my life for 18 years. I lived out of the state with my mom and step dad so I was raised mostly by my step dad but I have a relationship with my dad now that I'm older. It's just not completely mended. I wanna do a dance with both but I have no idea what song to do with my biological father simply cause all the songs and words don't really fit our relationship. Any ideas?

What song were you planning on dancing with your stepdad to? That may help since we don't want to suggest the same song twice. There are lots of great songs that aren't quite so daddy-daughter-ish. A few that come to mind:

Unforgettable – Nat King Cole & Natalie Cole

Sunrise, Sunset from Fiddler on the Roof – Louis Armstrong

The Way You Look Tonight – Tony Bennett

Isn't She Lovely – Stevie Wonder

What a Wonderful World – Louis Armstrong

Somewhere Over the Rainbow - Israel Kamakawiwo'ole

How about asking him what song he'd like? He may surprise you and come up with something completely different.

I would just pick a song you both like. The song doesn't have to be about a father daughter relationship. My Dad and I are dancing to Somewhere Over The Rainbow.

Could be an instrumental with no words. My dad loved Kenny G and picked s lovely instrumental. It was 26 years ago so I don't recall the name at this moment.
