Disposable plates/cups

Hi all,

We are getting married 10/10/20 (VERY popular date). We are booking our caterer this month and I called them to get a contact drafted through one we were very interested in. I’ve always wanted China and my mom does too- the one thing she has really pushed for (FH says use disposable-it’s cheaper by $400). I called them and they have no China sets left. They have a package that includes real flatware and linens but disposable cups, napkins and plates. After finding out they had none left I called a couple of other places really quick and they are completely booked for our date. Obviously the plates and cups are pretty sturdy plastic.. in just trying to decide if we should keep looking for a caterer that can provide China or just go with everything disposable besides the flatware. I already asked if we could provide our own China through another service and they do not allow that. Help!!! The photos are ones I found on their Facebook page of what the disposable looks like. We are getting married in a barn- the chairs are cloth. Disposable plates/cups 1Disposable plates/cups 2

You can usually find local companies that can just provide the China and silverware if you have everything else.

We had clear disposable plates and cups from Sam's as well as silverware. I had 130 RSVP and 105 guest was my wedding total and I had enough for everyone with lots leftover. I got two packages of 110 count plates (6.25 inches) for cake and it was $13.88 each, and the 9 inch dinner plates came with 55 in each package and I got three and they were $11.98 each and for cups we got a 264 count of 9 oz for $10.98, silverware was $10.98 for 300 forks and since we had a taco bar for dinner that was the only silverware we needed. My grand total for everything was $85.16Disposable plates/cups 4

I think that those are just fine. It may not be what your originally wanted but no one will care about the cups or napkins. As long as the food is good no one will bat an eye on what they are eating off of. Sorry they couldn’t do it tho! It sucks when something you love and you can’t make it happen. You just have to keep the big picture in mind and that is that you are marrying someone you love!!

I’ve been to multiple catered weddings where the caterers used disposable. I think it works fine, and that’s what we are using.

Did they say why they won’t allow you to use China from another company? If you are having a formal, or even semi-formal wedding, I would probably look for another company. I’d find it a little strange to be at a formal wedding eating off of plastic. If you are having a more laid back wedding, plastic/disposable is probably fine.
