Disposable cameras

Francesca, on April 17, 2017 at 5:46 PM Posted in Community Conversations 0 21

My fh wants to do disposable cameras on each table. So that way our guest can take candid shots! We will have a photographer and a videographer.. is this too much? I love his idea but I don't know if it's over the top.

I don't think it's "over the top," but I do think it's dated. Most people will want to use their cell phones to take pics. I would skip it.

Most people will use their cell phones. Also disposable cameras are really expensive to develop and you will have a lot of shots that are unusable.

Disposable cameras are expensive (both the cameras themselves and developing the film). A better approach is to create an official wedding hashtag and ask guests to use it when they share their photos on social media. People can use their own smartphones (which pretty much everyone has) and you will have full access to their candid pictures.

Wasted expense. Create an Instagram # and have people tag the pictures they take at the wedding.

We only had about 15 kids at our reception, so we bought each of them their own disposable camera and wrote their name on it. They had SO much fun with them, some of them got really into it. Then we had even more fun going through the photos after we had them developed.

@lisa that's really smart to do for kids. Otherwise may not be worth it

Skip it. You're going to spend a fortune on developing a bunch of grainy, poorly lit photos. Chances are, people won't use all the exposures. So then you'll have a bunch of half started rolls of film.

No one is using a disposable camera when they have a smartphone.

    It's a waste of money

Everyone always shits on disposable cameras here but I think they're a cute idea. My friends would be totally into it and the grainy pics have their own charm. I think we are going to put out a couple of polaroid cameras and an empty photoalbum instead of a guestbook.

Waste of money, but I think kids could have fun with it

I also wonder with everyone using disposable cameras (providing they do) if it would be frustrating for the photographer. I mean disposables with flash plus say your first dance... That sounds like a big mess.

Disposable cameras are so expensive. You also have to send them out to be developed now, where I live anyway. I developed 3 rolls of film recently and it was about $60. Not even worth it.

Why? You're hiring a pro. Keep people out of the way. Guests will do phone snaps on their own, and they're probably better than disposables.

I always thought that would be a fun idea too, but kind of obsolete now everyone has smart phones. I agree that would be really fun for the kids though! Or just get a few and leave them by the check in area and the bar and see what happens, I wouldn't do it for every table.

It sounds like a great idea, but I don't know if they will get used as much as they should. People have their phones, and if you have a photobooth, I don't think it's worth it.

Total waste of money. Those cameras were made for perfect lighting conditions. A wedding reception never ever ever has perfect lighting conditions.

Have people use their phones and add them to Instagram with your hashtag!

My mom did this for me when I had a sweet 16. ALL of the pictures were terrible. Then again we were kids so....
