Disposable cameras that will connect to computer

Gen, on August 8, 2018 at 11:57 AM Posted in Wedding Reception 0 17
We are planning to put a disposable camera on each reception table to encourage guests to take photos! I’ve heard that there are disposable cameras that allow you to upload the pictures digitally to your computer, rather than just having them developed in print.

Is this actually a thing? If so, can we upload them to a computer at home, or will we have to bring them into the store and then THEY “develop” them digitally? Can this be done with just a normal disposable camera or is there a special type?

(Please no comments trying to discourage me from using disposable cameras, we’re already set on doing so, and I’m aware that many of the pictures probably won’t come out well, but we still think it will be worth it since I’m sure we will get some good ones!)

They exist, but they’re $25 per camera. That’s not including the cost of any prints. Any regular disposable camera won’t have a USB port.

25$ for one disposable camera??? Whaaaat

OP maybe a better alternative is to buy two or three that print them out right away polaroid style and then have those buy a bank photo book to stick in and write a note next to as your guest book. A similar concept but potentially more cost effective.

Yeah that is way too expensive, jeez.

Thats a good idea, I just wanted to be able to get the photos on the computer to make sure they get preserved. Maybe I’ll either do your suggestion or just get regular disposables, and then scan the prints to get them on the computer lol. Definitely not worth $25 per camera, yikes

I did but the descriptions of everything I found was very vague so I couldn’t tell if it was actually the right thing or not

An alternative to disposible camera is the veri app, your guests will have to download the app (for free), but they can use the cameras on their phones and they will upload automatically. I made an i spy game with stuff they can snap pics of.
Use code verizero to get it for free. I got 5 events for free!! Originally $129. So we can use it for the shower, bachelorette party, rehearsal and wedding day.

Have you researched the price to develop the disposable cameras? The average price is $15 per camera to develop it plus the cost of the camera so, you are paying roughly the same amount.

I agree with a pp that a Polaroid camera guestbook may be a more cost-effective solution. Instax might be another good option with the added printer.

Is it really that much? Omg. I haven’t used a disposable camera since I was like 7 so I didn’t realize! I’ll look into instax, thank you

Plenty of people will probably take pics with their phones. You could use a hashtag, or just ask everyone to email you the pics they took.

If you just want the pictures because you want them on your computer just use a hashtag, I'm sure everyone will be taking pictures with their phones, and they'll probably turn out better than on a disposable camera lol. I'm not trying to discourage you, but this idea just sounds better for what you're wanting.

My sister did this, most of the pictures were garbage. People have phones now and social media. I think this would be a waste.

What about getting a disc along with prints so you can load them to the computer then you’ll have a disc of the pictures

If you get a polaroid camera, the polaroid snap actually has a slot for an SD card in it. It won't catch all the photos of the night, but for a guestbook or photobook type thing, it'll work just fine. Then you could use a hashtag or an app to collect any other photos taken that night.
