Disposable camera for guest selfies, fb group for photo sharing?

Jennifer, on March 16, 2019 at 8:41 PM Posted in Wedding Reception 0 12
I would like to put a disposable camera on my guest book table and ask my guests to snap a selfie. Just wondering what everyone thinks of this idea?
I am also trying to figure out how to get candid shots from guests. Is it ok to create a Facebook event and ask everyone to upload their photos there?
Thoughts, ideas?
Thanks.

I think the idea of the disposable camera is a good one but most people are so used to using their smart phones for photos you may not get a lot of participation. I would suggest trying digital methods like a photo sharing app, hash tag for FB or something along those lines. Good Luck.

My biggest worry about the disposable camera is people getting drunk and taking photos and wasting that film in it.

As for the group page, there are apps you can have guests upload to as well.

Digital cameras are also expensive to develop, and the pictures don’t come out very good.
I used The Guest app. My guests downloaded the app and joined our event. They took pictures like normal and they automatically uploaded to the site. I got 550 pictures and videos just from our reception and cocktail hr so about 5 hours!
I had 12 guests join our even out of 64. A hashtag is also used to gather all the pictures in one place, but going that route you have to hope people remember to upload them and use the hashtag.

I wouldn't do the disposable camera; I've heard nothing but bad outcomes from them. How about one of the new Polaroids though?

In this day and age with everyone having smartphones (often with really good cameras), don’t bother with the disposable cameras. The quality isn’t very good and they’re expensive to develop. Have a look at what’s available in terms of apps and pick one of those.

One easy way to keep track of all your pictures is a wedding hashtag. That way, you can just ask guests to post pictures with that hashtag, and it’ll be easy to find on social media.

I would create a wedding hashtag & put a little note at all of the tables asking guests to use it when posting to social media and everyone’s pictures will show up in one place. You can find creative ways of letting people know about your hashtags too. Also ask your guests to tag you In all wedding pics with you in them or not.

We created a Google shared photos folder and we got hundreds of photos from our 100 guests. It can be used on PC's and Macs. Our friends who got married weeks after used the same. I would definitely recommend.

    Hi Jennifer!
You can find the steps here:
    https://support.google.com/photos/answer/6131416?co=GENIE.Platform%3DDesktop&hl=en

We handled a lot of things digitally (only save the dates were physical and we had a website, electronic invitations for welcome lunch and electronic invitations as well so or guests were used to us contacting them via email.

After our wedding my husband sent out this email--

"As a group, you all travelled far and wide to watch us stand on a piece of wood while we stare at each other and cry like infants. We have one more favor to ask...
Please please please upload your videos and photos to this photo album right now.
[Google photos link here] (just “join” the album and hit the first icon towards the top to start uploading!)
We know it’s a pain but it would mean the world to us.
Thanks again for LITERALLY making our dreams come true."

    Hope this helps!

We hired photography students to get candid photos of our guests which were posted to our private FB. We also had a photo booth that was manned by one of the students and We asked our guests to put away their phones and enjoy the day. From what I could tell, most did.

P.S. Our guests were told of the FB page as they left the ceremony and were asked to send a friend request so that they could be tagged in all of the photos.
