Disney World Honeymoon??

Taylor, on April 19, 2020 at 4:31 PM Posted in Honeymoon 0 6
My fiancé and I are getting married in November 2021 but, because of our work schedules we aren’t taking a honeymoon until mid-January. We keep going back and forth if we want to actually take a honeymoon or just save the money (we can take a vacation anytime). We do still want to do something to celebrate but we thought something that might be fun is going to Disney World! Not sure if anyone has done it/ is planning to but I would love to hear thoughts on this and if you think it might be a fun thing!

Walt Disney World is an awesome place to honeymoon if you're a Disney fan. It gets expensive FAST, though, so pricing out ticket options, hotels, food, etc. beforehand is important. It's huge, so doing about 5 days minimum is always what I recommend most. There's great wine, food, sites, places to stay, spas to visit, attractions to ride, etc. It's very hard to get bored.

If you're into Disney, it's a pretty idyllic vacation. Many get overwhelmed with crowds or Disney's not their thing, so I'd say it's important to be in the same page as your SO before you do a deep-dive. I'm hoping by January 2022, the world will have gone "back" to a semblance of normal, and you'll be able to book. I'd probably wait until the end of the year/beginning of next year to put any money down, though, considering the state of the world.

We went to Disney for our Honeymoon - 7 nights/8 days

We stayed at Port Orleans French Quarter - it's (obviously) New Orleans themed which made total sense for our relationship, because that's where we started dating and where we got engaged. It has a relaxed feel, and was very quiet (and we had a corner room overlooking the pool, so it's definitely well insulated lol). First tip - add that you're honeymooning to your hotel reservation. It ends up on your Fastpasses as well and whenever you use your Magic Band it shows up.

Get the meal plan - it can save you a lot of money if you like to eat lol. You have to add your honeymoon to dining reservations separately - I don't know why, but you have to call.

The first and last days were 1/2 days because of flights, so we avoided reservations those days and just did Fastpasses.

When we arrived we went to the concierge and got our Happily Ever After buttons. Second tip - GET THE BUTTONS and wear them! Cast Members will tell you congratulations and between the buttons and your Magic Bands you can sometimes get free stuff - I'll tell you what we ended up with at the end.

We made dining reservations at: Le Cellier (EPCOT), Cinderella's Royal Table (MK), San Angel Inn Restaurante (EPCOT), Flying Fish (Boardwalk area), Yak & Yeti (AK), 50s Prime Time (HS), and Hollywood Brown Derby (HS).

We had two sit down dinners in HS because we were gifted the Fantasmic dinner package - dinner at one of three restaurants (the high end choice is HBD) and special seating for the show - SO COOL. But, I really wanted to go to 50s Prime Time (they definitely treat you like family - our server ("cousin") was all "why wasn't I invited to the wedding" - it was fun and the food is good!

Get a Memory Maker - you'll be able to download all of your photo pass and ride photos - completely worth it!

So. Cast Members are allowed to give away things to people who are celebrating (when we were there in February for my Mom's birthday, someone gave me an ice cream, because I was celebrating). Don't expect things - people who do, tend not to end up with things - just an observation. We got: a cheese stuffed Mickey pretzel, a churro, glasses of champagne at Le Cellier, seats at Be Our Guest for lunch (they were telling people they didn't have seats until 3, and let us right in), an extra half dessert and champagne at Flying Fish, champagne at HBD - and I'm sure there are things I've forgotten.

Get wedding ears! We wore ours only one day - that day we got audience participation at Monsters Inc Laugh Floor - it was cool.

Have fun planning and let me know if you have any questions. We're Disneyphiles through and through!

My fiancé and I are the biggest Disney fans, our last Disney trip was actually last January! The crowds and temperature is a bit more manageable. Depending on the hotel you stay at, there’s a lot of good options for relaxation too!

Even though my fiancé and I are Disney vacation club members and go multiple times a year, we are taking our honeymoon somewhere else so we don’t have to worry about food, extra costs, too many people around, travel, lines, etc.
We are doing an all-inclusive resort so we can relax, eat, drink, hang out in the room, work out, or whatever we want without extra costs. We may do a couple excursions though.
Bottom line is, it all depends on what you and your fiancé like to do on vacation! We like a good mix of both relaxing and participating in fun activities, so we’re going with an all-inclusive. When we go to Disney, we have a blast but we get way less alone time, even just going by ourselves.
    Hope this helps!

THANK YOU! This was super helpful and I appreciate the tips! I was looking into the Dining Plan and wasn't sure if it would be worth it but we love to eat (my Fiancé is a Chef) and me... I just love food hahaha! Also, I was looking into hotels and I was tempted to book a super nice one like Grand Floridian or Polynesian because it’s our Honeymoon but I almost can’t justify it since we are never really ever in our room when we go to Disney? Port Orleans seems like a great balance between the nice resorts and the value so I’m happy to hear good things from you about it!

We went this past January for our honeymoon, and it was fabulous!

It does require some careful budgeting, but it can be so much fun.

We stayed at the All Star Sports Resort, which is one of the cheapest. Since it ended up being the coldest week Florida had seen in years, it was great, because we spent all our time at the parks. We took the Magical Express and the buses, so we didn't need transportation. When we wanted to go to Universal, we just called a Lyft, and they could pick us up at the resort.

Make sure to tell Disney it's your honeymoon - you'll get little perks throughout the day. If you plan now, you'll likely get reservations at the fancy places. DH and I planned a little too close to our dates, so a lot of things were booked up.

Couldn't recommend enough, we had so much fun, we are hoping to take a group vacation with our family or friends when all this is over.

We have Disney planned for our honeymoon.

Doing the dining plan that allows us to have 1 nice sit down dinner a day to relax. We plan on doing parks in the morning, laying by pool in afternoon then back to parks for late evenings.
We are staying at pop because we don’t feel like we need to stay at the deluxe resorts. Tickets are park hoppers and we are going 8 nights/9 days for $3600.
