Disney theme park wedding/honeymoon

Kristina, on May 9, 2012 at 9:52 PM Posted in Planning 0 9

Has anyone had a Disney wedding or a "Disneymoon"? We are considering a variety of locations but Disneyland and Disney World have been suggested by a number of acquaintances. Pros? Cons?

I wouldn't do a Disneymoon, but I've been to Disneyland a billion times. Standing in line for hours in the baking sun isn't exactly romantic~ I'd much rather bake under the sun on a sandy beach listening to the crashing waves :-)

I did attend a Disneyland bachelorette party though, that was super fun!

As long as you have the money to cover them. I've never been to DisneyWorld but Disneyland is smaller compared to DisneyWorld.

Both parks are going to be expensive.... Plus I think you can rent a day of the park for private party.... =x

We went to Disneyworld for our honeymoon. We took five days and did about two parks a day - NOT a very relaxing honeymoon!!! If I could go back and do it again, I would take more time to see everything. There's so much to do!!

If you're looking for something more romantic and relaxing, a Disney honeymoon probably isn't the right choice - at least for me. We were pooped when we got back home! lol

We did have a TON of fun and we're both still kids ourselves so we enjoyed it, it was just tiring.

We got lucky price-wise because my grandma has a time share down there, so we stayed at that resort for free. Smiley xd Ticket-wise I would definitely recommend park-hopper passes that way you can come and go between parks throughout the day. That enabled us to do 2-3 parks/day.

There are packages that include food, etc. We didnt use those. The food inside the park is relatively inexpensive compared to where we're from (Seattle). Plus they will give you free cups of ice water!

Also, we found that the best time to do Magic Kingdom was towards the night because the light parade was going on, so it kept kids off the rides! Smiley winking

We're having our wedding and "Disneymoon" at Walt Disney World. They have a lot of different packages that fit everything from tiny intimate weddings, to large ones with a couple hundred people. It's Disney though, so it's pricey. Anything over 20 people (including the bride and groom) and you're looking at spending $12k MINIMUM. If you can afford it, it's great though. They have almost every vendor you need, the only things they don't have are officiants and cosmetologists, and even then they have a recommended list they give you. So you go through Disney to book everything. It saves a lot of time and hassle and research. You also only have to put down a deposit when you sign your contract, and then nothing else is due until 90 days before the wedding.

As far as a Disneymoon goes, it all depends on what you like to do. You can do a lot there besides just standing in line at rides. They have park tours, shopping, nightlife, and amazing restaurants!

And if you do like theme parks, you have 4 Disney parks to choose from. There's also Downtown Disney which has Disneyquest and Cirque de Soleil's La Nouba and lots of shopping. There's also a Sea World in Orlando, Aquatica, 2 Disney water parks, and Universal Studios/Islands of Adventure (which now has Harry Potter World). There's also a new Legoland nearby that was just built last year.

Sorry, I'm a FL resident, and I love Disney and theme parks way too much. Smiley laugh

If you do honeymoon there, watch out for those stands with the "free" disney tickets. They come with stipulations which includes going to timeshares presentations (which they'll tell you it's 90 mins-NOT! It's more less 2-4 hours depending on when you can get away). Also Disney World as you know is in Florida. We don't have of a winter here in florida, so it's always overcrowded.
