Your dress shopping experience

I’m sure there’s many discussions about this, but I’m going to start scheduling appointments soon and feel like I have too many people to bring! I’m thinking of asking the 3 bridesmaids, mom, fmil, and stepmom. 2 of which may be too busy anyway. How many people came with you, and how did it go? I know some places have a limit which I will abide by- just wanted to see what everyone else did.

7 people came with me.... way more than was necessary. Too many opinions. Just be mindful of who you bring and how many you bring. You don't want their opinions conflicting with your own.

I did, however, find my dress on the very first day of appointments. I had an appointment at 10 am and then a second appointment at 12:30. I found my dress at the second appointment and was so happy I did. Short and sweet process!

I had so 5 of my bridesmaids plus MOB and FMIL. I think it worked out well because I got so many different perspectives on each dress. The only downsides are everyone picking out dresses and having a million to try on and at one place not everyone had a place to sit. But other than that I wouldn't have changed a thing.

When I go for my fitting I'm only taking my MOH, and my mom and his mom. I haven't gone yet but I'm a little worried because I don't want a traditional wedding dress.

I took my mom, MOH, and MOH's mom (who is like a second mom to me anyway.) I also invited another BM, but she was unable to make it.

I definitely wanted my mom there, my MOH would give me an honest opinion, and so would her mom, so that's why I decided to bring them.

Picking out the dresses was chaotic, because we were literally given clothespins and we went into a room with dresses within my price range. They kept picking out dresses for me to look at, and I had picked out 5 dresses within 5 minutes.

But once I actually picked out the dresses, everyone was able to give me similar opinions without me getting overwhelmed. I bought the 4th dress I tried on, first time I went shopping!!!

Most places have a limit of 3 or 4. My first two appointments I had 4 people come with me and it was okay but lots of different opinions which can make it stressful when it can be fun. When I actually found my dress it was just me and my mommy and it was amazing. I say just do your mom, stepmom and FMIL, the bridesmaids can see at your fitting, that is when they saw mine.

My daughter asked only me to go with her...so just the two of us. It was a wonderfully special time together!

I had 3 well 2 that could give me their opinion. My mom, older sister and my 8 month old daughter. I think it was perfect. I also work at the David's Bridal I went to so my coworkers gave input here and there too. I liked that it wasn't a lot of opinions but just enough to make sure I chose the dress that I felt was right for me.

When I actually found and purchased my dress it was just me, my best friend and her sister (who I'm also very close to). It was perfect! I did have another appointment to appease my mother. At the 2nd appt I had 7 people with me and it was way too much but I wasn't really shopping so it wasn't so bad.

My first time it was me, my mom, and MOH who drove 3.5 hours to surprise me. The second time I went by myself due to weather (the same two were supposed to come). I ended up finding the one I loooved when I was by myself, and honestly it didn’t make a huge difference to me what anyone else thought of it. My mom, her best friend (I’m super close with her), and my grandma all came down two days later so I could try on the one I was obsessed with and one other dress as a comparison. If I was paying for it myself, no one would have needed to come, I would have shown them at home, but my mom paid for my dress so I wanted her to see it in person first.

I went multiple times with different amounts of people and had the best experience/ found my dress with only my mom and dad. Everyone is different but I would only take the people who matter the most and give good feedback without trying to persuade you into something you don’t want/like.

I went on a trial run with just my moh. That trip helped me narrow down fabrics and silouttes. The following week I went to a different store with my mother and moh. FMIL was invited but couldn’t make it. I thought I might have found the one but wanted to keep looking so just my mom and I went to a third store, found another contender, but I kept thinking about one of the dresses I tried on at the very first store so we went back there. I tried on the one I had been thinking about then, but also some other ones and finally found the one.
I am a person who does NOT shop around and is usually very impulsive so I was surprised that I was very much the opposite when it came to my dress. I really enjoyed the dress shopping experience although I was dreding it going in.

My bf is the only person who came with me. Loved not having a crowd, too many opinions for me.
