Who to Tip and How Much??

Jamie, on May 2, 2019 at 3:04 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 4

My wedding is coming up soon and I wanted to start getting tips together. Who did you tip and how much?? Did you tip them at the wedding or send them a thank you card with a check?

Our venue charges an 18% gratuity fee onto our final bill and is also semi all inclusive (catering, bar, cake, rentals, etc.) so we aren't tipping any extra on top of that. My photographer, HMUA, and my DJ all own their own businesses and don't have employees so I am not tipping them on top of their regular amounts either. I know some people don't agree with that but it is very normal in my area to not tip people if they own their own businesses. If I did have people to tip I would most likely tip the standard 15-20% and I would give it to them as cash in a card at the wedding.

Catering, photography, videographer, HMUA, DJ, Transportation- 15-20%. Then each server $20-$50. Wedding planner, florist, and officiant are optional. If you have a wedding planner, let them handle the tips at the end of the wedding.

Similar situation for me. Venue and caterer both have included gratuity. However, I know my MUA and hair stylist personally. They are giving me discounts and I will be tipping them because I feel they deserve more money for their quality of work. I may tip delivery people from the bakeries but that is it

Jamie Wolfer has a good youtube video on this (and lots of other things as well) that may help you out.
