Who did you leave your child with for honeymoon?

Mia, on May 25, 2018 at 8:00 PM Posted in Honeymoon 0 11

I'm really struggling with not wanting to leave my 1.5 will be 2.5 year old with anyone to go on a honeymoon. I'd rather just bring her because I know I will just be worrying the whole time I'm gone. FH parents are not an option. They are both older and alcoholics, and my mom lives 800 miles away from us. Therefore, we would have to fly to her, leave our daughter, and then fly to wherever. Also, my mom works as a teacher so we wouldn't even be able to go on a honeymoon right after our wedding. I say forget the honeymoon, but obviously FH isn't having that at all.

Can you include her? Maybe a Disney Cruise or something similar?

Could you start building a relationship with someone now? Like a nanny one day a week and have them stay with her for honeymoon? House sitter and childcare all in one?

I was going to suggest this. You've got a year.

It made sense to me. I work as a nanny though and I am sure if I didn't, it never would have crossed my mind. Haha

We just said forget the honeymoon. Neither of us have been married, but we both have a child. As much as we would love to honeymoon, we just don't have anyone that we want to leave our children with.

One grandma is taking the first half of the week, the other is taking the second half.

We are delaying our honeymoon about 3 weeks until the kids are out of school for a week, then sending one with one grandma and the other two with a great grandmother (blended family).

I have a 3 year old and dont really have to many people I trust to leave him with. So we are cutting our honeymoon short to 4 days 3 nights in Bermuda since it is only 2 hours away from us by plane. Going to leave on a Friday so he is with my mom then his godmother will have him from Friday night to Sunday night then back to my mom until we land. It's not the ideal long honeymoon but its something that works.
In your case your little ones are smaller so I understand. If you can't get a sitter maybe plan something where you can take them like a cruise they have babysitting.

I agree. I have been a nanny for 8 years for the same fam. There are definitely people out there you can trust and youve got time to establish a relationship. I think its important for you and your new husband to have a little get away to start of your marraige

Who watches her normally? If one of you is a stay at home parent that might be irrelevant. But if she attends a daycare maybe one of the workers there would be willing to watch her/earn some extra cash.

I’m a stay at home mom during the day, and I work a couple of nights during the week so the only person who actually watches her is me. Her dad does more on the weekends. I think we’re going to have to compromise and do a honeymoon later in the year and just fly to my mom and let her keep her. Face. Palm.
