White Dress for Italian/Catholic wedding?

Andrea, on October 26, 2017 at 2:59 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 6

Neither my fiancé or I are Italian, but we are planning a catholic wedding in Florence next year and I am currently in the process of picking my dress.

I know that the churches are more strict in Italy so I'm wondering if anymore knows whether my dress HAS to be white.

I was told that I may not even be allowed to get married in the church if it's not white. I was also told that my vail can be what "covers" my shoulders since they are strict on that too.

Please help!!! I want to feel confident and beautiful knowing I picked everything right.

Thank you in advance!

No, it doesn't have to be white. Who in the world told you that?

And your *veil* may not count.

    What is the church?

You should probably check with the Italian Embassy at https://www.dfa.ie/embassies/irish-embassies-abroad/europe/italy/ for dress code, licensing, requirements, etc.

    Or @Nonna

Contact the specific church you are marrying in to understand their requirements.

You definitely need to check with the church itself- this can vary so much. I went into a few italian churches while there, and I had to bring a shawl to wrap around my shoulders with me everywhere just in case my dress didn't cut it. (It was thick tank top style, but some need full sleeves). You also may need to cover your head/ hair. But that will vary too. I haven't heard anything about the color of the dress though. But yeah, it can get strict in my experience.
