While we're talking about shoes... help with high heels!

M&M, on January 15, 2015 at 8:23 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 12

So I am looking for a pair of 4 inch heels for the wedding and was looking for suggestions on which brands are most comfortable? I'm pretty set on wearing 4inch heels since I'm 4' 11" and FH is 5' 8" and I don't want to hem my dress. I am thinking of getting wedges for the reception though to give my feet a break, but I wanted to hear suggestion for the pictures/ceremony. I will probably be getting platforms since they are more comfortable, and will probably be looking into getting some kind of heel inserts as well since our wedding day will be a very long day...

Any suggestions??

Break them in! I have my shoes and every time I put them on the balls of my feet hurt. Going to look into dr. Scholls inserts for heels. I inly have 4 months to hope it works. Good luck.

Like you we have a big height difference. I'm 5'3 and FH is 6'3. I bought a pair of 4" naturalizer wedges. I wore them around the house when I was cleaning/doing laundry for a couple days. They're super comfy now. I'm going to wear them during the ceremony & hopefully for the rest of the day too!

As far as inserts, the gel inserts that sit at the balls of your feet are AMAZING. Also, go for a thicker heel, as they are easier to walk in and more comfortable.

There is a pair of Badgley 's that I'm so tempted to buy... I think they'll be okay. I'll definitely be buying inserts for them.

Glad I'm not the only one wearing high heels on the big day... I'm nervous but hopefully it will be okay.

FH is 13 inches taller than me. I found a pair of inexpensive platform wedges for the wedding at Payless. I can't do narrow heels, my ankles are too weak.

My fiance is 15" taller than me! I'm glad I'm not the only one with such a big difference. I just got my shoes. They're about 4" tall because I KNOW I can work a pair of 4" heels. I'm good in 4.5" too but I didn't want to push it too far since there will be so much standing/walking/dancing that day. I need to start working them in and I might get some foot petals too.

Let me throw my two cents in as a married lady...

On your wedding day you will be on your feet a LOT more than you think. Pictures take forever and you're standing for the most part. Nobody thinks to bring a chair for the bride lol. Not to mention those dresses have to weigh an extra ten pounds that is pressing down on your feet.

My point being, I had 2.5 inch heels, broke them in, wore inserts...and by cocktail hour I was already DYING. I mean, I was standing in one spot and if people wanted to talk to me they could walk over. Luckily I brought flats for the reception but if I could do it over I might look for wedges.

Staci, I'm glad you weighed in here. I was hoping to hear from a bride with experience what it would be like wearing heels all day.

I had a similar question yesterday in the forum post I started about attempting 5" heels for the wedding day:

    https://www.weddingwire.com/wedding-forums/shoes-inch-heels-am-crazy-and-any-styling-tips-for-my-dress/81c3821e72e45a46.html

(My fiancé and I are 6'1 and 5'0 respectively.)

M&M, definitely find platform heels if you're set on heels for the ceremony and wedges for the reception. (Sorry I can't help you with your original question about what brands to look for. I'm still pondering myself!)

I have 4" platform heels that I wear for when I perform. (I'm a musician.) And they're wearable for sure. (I don't know how they'd feel on all day though, as a bride.)

When I was a bridesmaid however, I did wear 4" heels (not platform) and was in so much pain, and had to switch to my beloved 3" silver wedges. (I've had them for 5-6 years!) I would wear them with my dress, but they are not quite formal enough and are a little beaten up from wearing them as my staple summer shoe.

    Good luck!

We have chairs for the ceremony because our ceremony is long (about 1-2 hours), but we are still standing for a good amount of time.

I am thinking about looking into 4inch wedges instead. They don't look as pretty, but I don't want to kill myself either.

I'll have to look into "platform flip flops" for the reception too, I think I saw the idea on another thread.
