Where did you get your garter?

Staci, on August 28, 2014 at 11:14 AM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 35

FH is adamant for some reason that he wants to do a garter toss so I'm letting him have this one. My question is - where do I purchase one? Do I have to order online or can I find it in a store somewhere? And if I do order online - how can I be sure it will fit properly? Thanks Smiley smile

I ordered of Etsy. I just measured my thigh where I wanted the garter to be. I haven't recieved it yet though!

You can get them at most bridal stores.

Etsy has some great vendors! You send them the measurements and they make it for you !

I will add I made mine and it cost about 5 bucks and took 5 minutes to make

I looked at stores but they were not what I wanted and were more expensive as well

I contemplated ordering a lace garter set off Etsy for months. But after getting some negative feedback about them I decided against it. Brides have told me that although they sent in their measurements for the custom lace garter, it still wouldn't stay up and they had to use sticky tape.

I ended up ordering mine off davidsbridal.com, they have lots of options and the regular size fit me just fine. Stayed up all day/night and wasn't too snug. Great quality and awesome price!

I got mine at Party City really cheap. I think it was $4. We just wanted it for the garter toss, so I really didn't care what it looked like or the quality. It's just a prop. Look at party stories, walmart, even craft places - any store that would have a wedding section. They usually sell them relatively cheap than getting one off of Etsy or online.

My FH is adamant as well (I have no idea why). I bought mine from Etsy out of stretch lace and just followed the seller's instructions on measuring. It doesn't stay up though which is ok, since I plan to put it on right before the toss or for photos only.

I bought off Etsy but instead of having to measure i got a basic set with elastic, i've heard people have horror stories about the lace measure to fit ones falling down, thighs expand when we sit and slim when we stand so its a mixed bag. they are super pretty and way more unique, but i didn't care much about the garter toss like FH does so i just got a basic one to match wedding colors.

Thanks everyone. These are some good options.

@LadyMonk FH is super shy so it is so out of character!

@Blue that looks great! Did you buy a special kind of lace?

I got mine on Etsy too and they are amazing. They came within DAYS of ordering too. I don't think I have a picture to share though.

I either order this one online or have a friend's sister to make one for me. I want a superman garter because my FH is a huge superman fan. I mean the man has superman tattooed on his leg. So I thought i would leave it as a little surprise for him until he takes it off of me. I thought it was cute and its also something blue.

I was also surprised by how much my FH wanted to do it--but he does, so we are. I got mine on ebay for about $5./free shipping and went with stretch and lace so it would stay up.

I did not want to do a garter toss and FH insisted!! So I compromised and bought a cheapo garter from Michael's, it was $4.99 and I had a coupon, think I paid $2 for it in the end.

I got mine from David's Bridal. I don't have a picture of them with me, but they are in my wedding colors and very pretty.

I made mine. It cost just a few dollars for both my garter and toss garter. (similar style to Lady Monk's)

If you are going with stretch lace... they just will not stay up all night. Stretch lace is silky smooth, and therefore will slide off your leg. You will need to get some double sided sticky fashion tape to keep it on.

@stacy- I bought stretchy lace from hobby lobby's fabric dept and then sewed a no slip plastic lining at the top and bottom just for good measure...
