When to send invites

Miranda, on June 29, 2018 at 9:35 AM Posted in Planning 0 12
Is 12 weeks out too soon to send invitations? People have been messaging me saying they got a save the date but no invite...I keep saying that’s because they’re sitting in a box at my house! The vast majority of my guests are out of town with a good number of those being way out of state (like all the way across the country) I don’t want to send them too early and people forget to RSVP because they have so much time, but I want out of towners to have plenty of time for travel plans and people messaging me already makes me think I need to send them sooner

That is the point of Save the dates, to give out of town guests the necessary info so they're able to make travel arrangements.

Ours are going out in about 2 weeks, but our RSVP date is end of August due to when we need our numbers into catering and venue.

I have heard that 10 weeks is good for weddings that are considered "destination," which to your out of towners, it sort of is.

BUT honestly, go for what your gut says. We have a wedding at the start of October that we got the invitations for like 3+ weeks ago. (We RSVP'd immediately because who wants to be That Guy?)

That’s what I thought! We even included our wedding website on the save the date and people are still confused. I guess you can’t please everybody 🤷🏻‍♀️😂

We sent them 12 weeks out because guests that got Save the Dates started asking where the invites were when we were 4 months out.

I'm mailing mine July 9th with a August 15 RSVP due date with a September 15 wedding.... I wanted plenty of time to follow up with people and the rate on our block of rooms goes up on August 16 so this way if people are timely they will get the better rate Smiley smile I sent save the dates in January so people should be able to figure it out.

I sent mine out 12+ weeks in advance. We have a fair number of OOT guests. I sent them that early so I could include the room block information again, the room block deposits were due fairly early or we would lose the rooms (tourist town at a popular time of year). I put the wedding website on my STDs but I don't think anyone looked at it so I wanted to make sure people got the information. We've gotten well over half our rsvps back already so I don't think it's a big deal to send them a little early especially if they are traveling they likely already know if they are coming or not.

So our wedding is 10.8 and our invites were just delivered (yay!) we were planning on Mid-July but it's a DW and people are asking why they weren't invited because they haven't gotten an invite yet lol!! (I'm like I haven't even gotten them yet folks!) so I guess we are going to try to get them out ASAP!

I sent mine at the beginning of June with a July 15th deadline for my September 2nd wedding. It is technically a destination wedding since everyone lives out of state and I also sent my STDs in January.
