What's the formal way of saying January 4?

Alexandria, on December 26, 2018 at 3:01 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 11
I'm finishing up my seating chart and I'm a little stumped. What's the elegant and grammatically correct way of saying January 4 2019? This will go underneath our names at the top of the seating chart and I want to have the day first and then the month.
Is it:

4 January 2019 or
4th of January 2019
Or is there another way? I'm probably overthinking this lol

Honestly, any time the number is first, I automatically think of Britain/Europe, which makes it automatically fancy and elegant to me.

I think, at least on invitations, the proper way to write it is Fourth of January, 2019. So the number is written out. If you want to keep it a number and not another word, I think 4 January is best. Smiley smile

Everything should be spelled out with the number first so,
the Fourth of January Two-Thousand Nineteen

I didn’t read all of the post, sorry, I assumed it was for invitations 🤦‍♀️
I don’t personally like how any of those look because they all look weird to me. I don’t know what the proper/formal way is to write it like that.

I think it would look strange to have the date written out formally for a seating chart or any other signs. Usually the regular date format is used for signs. Here are 2 examples from my wedding.

I agree with this. I am all about using the formal date on a formal invitation (including spelling out the year), but I think regular date format (January 4, 2019) should be used on signage.

Date twins!! Almost there! But I would use it as informal, just regular date, January 4th, 2019.

I honestly wouldn’t go too fancy with this for seating purposes. I agree with @Future Mrs.Mendoza: January 4th, 2019 is perfect.

I live in Europe though, and I'd like to do it the European way which is with the day first. It is also used as a more formal way of writing the date in the US

Yeah, I understand, so put the day first. My point is, put it in date format. Don't try to make it formal because I think that would look strange.

Date twins!!! Happy wedding week!! Smiley smile Ours is just January 4th, 2019 on everything. But yeah, I believe that 4 January 2019 is proper etiquette of writing the date! And it looks classy (maybe I'll change the arrangement of ours)

Hope you have the most beautiful wedding ever!
