What would you do for transportation??

H, on February 24, 2019 at 7:57 AM Posted in Planning 0 14
Our ceremony is at a church about 10 minutes from our reception (hotel). We are doing a first look. I don’t want to rely on Uber’s or something on the day of our wedding. BUT it also seems kind of silly to have to pay for a limo or bus for our bridal party when most require a 3 hour min (or to at least pay for it).

would you get a car that could fit us and our bridal party and parents from hotel to church? Would you not go over together? Would you just get a small car for the two of you for after reception? I feel overwhelmed by the options. We want to be practical but also realize this is our wedding and be a bit pampered I guess.

I'm definitely going to be using Uber to get around, and assume my guests will as well (hotel to venue, we are getting married on site). Uber seems like a no-brainer to me. You can get yourself a fancier Uber if that is important.

We were having a similar dilemma. Our ceremony and reception are at the same location. Hoqever, we wanted to have a vehicle bring everyone to the venue and to the after ceremony pictures location (which is only like 5-10 minutes away). We looked up trolleys, limos, and party buses and they were all $600 and up for 3-4hrs.

We decided to rent 2 large SUVs for the weekend instead. The SUVs are only $230 each for the entire weekend.
I was thinking of Uber, but we wanted to be flexible and have reliable transportation.

I think the SUVs is a great alternative. I wouldn't want to rely on Ubers either because they can be so fickle.

Personally, I would focus on transporting myself and my FS alone unless I have already promised to transport the wedding party to and from the hotel.

I think the SUV rental is a good idea. I wouldn't trust Uber because they can get turned around and make you late and who wants that on their wedding day. Where is your reception venue? A lot of the venues I have been looking at have shuttle services and the ones that don't the vendor suggested a hotel in our local area that can do it.

We are lucky, my owns an SUV and he takes impeccable care of it so that is that.

You don’t need a limo, just rent a nice white or black SUV with the seats all out, and have him drive.

Rent a convertible or other sports car for a third of the price of a limo. Way more fun than a limo anyway. Have a friend or family member drive. Arrive in style.

We are probably going to get 1 limo and have it make to trips. The cost of limos is STUPID lol. I cannot even fathom it. The one company said for a party as big as mine i would have to pay by the hour and rent it for the day. I was like... so you want me to pay 1800 bucks for me to use your service for a total of 20 minutes? i am technically paying your company to joyride for the unaccounted for time. No thanks.

You can also look at Uber Events. You can setup pre-paid rides and distribute it to the guests. I'm sure there are forums on here where people have used it and can tell you whether it's worth it.

Where do you plan on taking pictures at? The limo is also helpful for that. To be honest some of the best memories were made in the limo. Just a nice time to.really have fun with just your bridal party.

Every hotel I have ever been to offers a free shuttle and you are within their range of travel. They always have large vans for several passengers. That could transport you, FH and the bridal party (usually up to 6-8 people). I wouldn't rely on Uber.

So we will be renting a nice car for just the two of us. I'm thinking I'll have everyone else drive separately to the reception since it's only 5 minutes from the church. We are looking into a hotel that offers shuttle services as an option for before and after the events.

We have a local facebook group and people sometimes post asking to line up ubers ahead of time like for a trip to the airport the next day. Typically they get a ton of responses from Uber drivers who like the guaranteed trip. If you have something like that it might be an option for you.
