My mom passed almost five years ago and now I'm getting married...it's a Jewish ceremony and so parents walk down the aisle with the bride and groom. I have been asked whether I will have my Dad walk me down by himself or will I ask my Aunt to join us. I'm not sure what to do....on one hand I don't want it to look like I'm trying to replace my mom and on the other hand it may be better for her to walk me down with my Dad. What would you do? TIA.....

What does your heart tell you to do?
...you are the one whos getting married!
I dont think your replacing your mom---many people dont have dads to walk them down so they choose someone who is a special part of their lives...not a replacement.

I personally think I'd just walk with my Dad in that position, unless your aunt has become like-a-mother to you, you know? I recommend asking your rabbi what he thinks!

I would walk with just your father.. and place a flower on the seat next to your father to symbolize her memory..

I saw a similar ceremony once. The bride had lost her father so her mother and uncle walked her down the aisle. I thought it was sweet. It's up to you though. If you feel really close to your aunt I say go for it, but if you want just your Dad I don't think anyone would blame you.
