Wedding Favors! Caramel Apples?

Michelle, on March 20, 2014 at 8:21 AM Posted in Planning 0 8

Hi Everyone,

I am thinking of doing caramel apples for wedding favors. The wedding will be at the end of September in southern VA. It is an indoor reception, but I am still concerned that the caramel will start to run. I am ordering them from a company that makes caramel apples with a soft caramel coating and crunchy topping. Anyone seen caramel apples as favors during warm months? How did they hold up? Thanks!

I have bougt caramel apples at many fairs/parks in the summer and they are always fine. I'm sure if you transport them from your cool home straight to the cool reception you will be fine! If it was an outdoor reception I would say probably not. These sound like the PERFECT favor for a September wedding! Great idea!

I would agree that they should be fine. The caramel may get a little softer, but it shouldn't run or anything like that, and I am assuming each apple will be wrapped. That is a perfect early fall favor. Your guests will love them!

I am doing this, my wedding is October 11.

We talked to a local apple orchard last fall, got a contract from them. They are selling me 200 for $1 a piece as long as they put their sticker on as a label. I was TOTALLY fine with that. It's just a small sticker on the bottom of the apple, about the size of a banana sticker.

They also told us that as long as they stay at room temp and don't sit in a hot car or out in the sun all afternoon, they will be fine. We are picking them up on Friday and delivering them straight to the reception hall.

I went to a wedding at the end of last September that had carmel apples as a favor and they held together well. My FH actually went around to the tables at the end and grabbed a bunch that were left behind, lol. We brought some home and they lasted a good week after the wedding.

My family has been going to the apple orchard for literally generations lol. My nephews mark generation #4, so we know the owners. We just approached them as a business opportunity and they liked that idea lol
