Ways to incorporate black into ceremony and reception?

Black Ribbon on the bouquets. Guys wearing black tux. If your doing candels anywhere you could use black candels. Add some black accents in the vase like black branches.

Dont worry, I am post crazy too. I am also wedding wire obsessed. You could use a dark purple and then incorporate black as a "filler" color. Use black ribbon and such like the post about suggested. That is such a beautiful color scheme. They have black and purple roses. Or if you ask your florist, they should be able to spray some babies breath black and incorporate it. Your florist should have some great ideas for flowers. For the setup maybe black table clothes and purple and white napkins or vice versa. It should be fairly easy to come up with stuff. Great idea for the colors. I love it! And kudos to you for making sure your FH is involved and has what he wants too!

I'm using silk flowers, but I'm going to check the website to see what black flowers they offer and go from there. Right now I'm using purple vases, but I might switch to black vases with purple and white tulip bouquets since I'm almost certain I'll be using white tablecloths. I was also planning on using fabric squares underneath the vases. So I could do black vases with purple and white fabric squares underneath and then purple and white bouquets.

What about a black groom's cake? He is really into computers and I know that the groom normally picks out the groom's cake but I think it would be cool to surprise him with a black computer groom's cake. Thoughts?

I think that is a great idea. And Im sure he would find it sweet to know that throughout the wedding planning and stress you are still thinking about what he wants.

If you go with the black cake make sure you use fondant and not dyed black icing everyones mouth will turn black. lol. I like that idea though. Don't know what we are doing for my FH grooms cake yet.

Ok so I've found black square vases and black votive candleholders with the candles. My FH prefers square shapes so by switching to black not only is he getting his favorite color but he also gets square!

Hadn't thought about the dye. I'll look around and see what I can find.

You could do black table runners or black crystals on the tables.

I want to say kudos for involving your guy, and... yay for tulips and purple and black and white (same as me, lol).

I'm thinking we'll have black squares on the tables, maybe black napkins, not sure what else.

I understand totally what you are experiencing, to incorporate your FH's favorite color black, when it comes to your BM's tulip bouquet you can have the stem part of the tulips wrapped in a satin black ribbon. For your bouquet insert little black stones just like crystal accents, and as for the tables you accent the centerpieces by placing black votive holders with candles 2 per table and accent it with black,purple and clear glass stones scattered around your centerpieces and the votives. It will make the white table clothes and white tulips and purple vases blend in with your wedding colors which will make your decor stand out and eye catching as your guest enter the reception room. Ooo! Black! It's very classy. You could have the girls wear black dresses or have black sashes on their dresses! For the reception, on the food table you could probably do a black tablecloth!

Ok so here is my plan:

I've changed my purple vases to black square vases. My purple votive candles are now black. I'm going to wrap my bouquet and my bridesmaids' bouquets in black ribbon.

The men will be in black tuxes. I'm going to have both black and purple napkins.

My table flowers will be a mixture of purple and white tulips, instead of the original white. I might have white fabric squares and purple fabric squares underneath the vases. I'm going to wait until I start ordering and kind of do a mock-up of a table to decide if it needs a little something extra, though.

Since I'm doing black vases and votives, I might just do clear crystals and purple crystals instead of black. I don't want to lose my purple stuff, lol.

Does anyone know where I can get clear or dark purple crytals that are less than $5.00 a bag? Walmart used to carry the clear crystals for $2.97 but the website no longer has it on there. What about cheap chair covers?

Black dinner napkins or plates or both could work. At least it would accent the purple and the white of the centerpieces without being too much.
