Was this a Grinch/Scrooge move? LOL

FMS, the barefoot wife!, on December 20, 2010 at 11:47 AM Posted in Married Life 0 12

For work, We all got to pick 2 days off after Christmas. I picked the 27th & 28th, as there would be a better chance of DH still at home and not working. My co-worker picked the 29th & 30th. He came to me and asked to switch days off so he can make it to a belated family Christmas gathering that is out of town. He is celebrating with his dad's side on the 25th and his mom's on the 27th or 28th (His parents are together, his mom's parents & family live 3 hours away). I said no. I want to spend as much time with my husband as possible before he goes back to work. It's not my fault that you didn't get more info from your mom's side when their Christmas is. He didn't seem to upset about it after he told my why he wanted those days off. But I still feel kind of bad. The 27th & 28th are also the last days my BFF is in town before she heads home (6 hours away)

Totally not a scrooge move! You need your husband as much as he needs his family! And you made plans. Sorry buddy, too late.

I think the scrooge move would come in how you said no. You can say it nicely- I'm sorry, I have plans that can't be changed VS. Hell No, Jerkwad! Those are my days!

Ahhh..Good! Thanks for making me feel better Analy! I really just want to take one day to my DH and I, and then the other with BFF. We're going to the Chinese place for dinner, exchanging gifts and I believe heading back to her parents for 'our' sister's birthday!

No not a scrooge move, you have every right to want to be with your husband as you can, it's a sucky situation but not your fault.

He is also a MAJOR procrasinator. LOL so he probably didn't even ask his mom until 20 seconds BEFORE he asked me! We was talking to her just before he came in here...

I don't think it was a Grinch move. Especially since he didn't say why till after you'd said no. It isn't like you were just like "No @sshole. They're my days. You can't have them."

LOL I agree with the others, why should you have to suffer for his family's poor planning? He had his chance. :-P
