Vent: He's 'Helping', I Am *OVER* Our Wedding

Kimber Elena, on May 22, 2014 at 6:34 PM Posted in Planning 0 21

We're 30 days out... so before I say anything else, I will admit that my brain is cracked out on wedding-panic, and I am not the calmest human ever at the moment.

After a mini wedding meltdown, my fiance told me to 'just relax, it'll all come together!' This may have hit a nerve, as I said something, slightly hysterically, along the lines of, "Of course you think that, because I've been the one MAKING it all come together!" (Not my finest moment, I am aware.) He kindly volunteered to take on some tasks, and I gave him the job of finishing up the food and booze with the caterer.

The thing is, he isn't really handling it at all, and I know that I am not a sane bride right now, but I kind of want to strangle him a little bit.

Anyone else ready to murder their spouse/ ditch their wedding? (I don't mean that I don't want to marry him- I just wish we would have gone to Vegas.)

Girl, my jealousy is overflowing. If I could go back and spend what we've spent by now, but on a great weekend in Vegas instead, I absolutely, without a doubt would. (Wine is a great idea!)

If I left anything up to FH it would never get done. Like, I know he says he will "help" with certain things, but unless I dictate exactly what I want and I am on him until it gets done, it will not happen. I had a mini-meltdown a few weeks ago. Just breathe, take a bath, and relax to pull yourself together Smiley smile

I think I am about at the point where I will be accepting of however our wedding goes, complete with goofs and screw ups, just to get it behind us. I sound like such a b****y bride, and I don't mean to be. I'm just at that point where I'm pulling my hair out.

Woosah with a glass of your favorite wine and give yourself at least ONE day to not do anything wedding related.

I know you don't want to hear this but here's my

'baby, it's gonna all come together' look

Kimber Elena, I think this is a bridal meltdown safety zone. I understand and feel you. Initially, FH announced what he wanted and didn't question how it would happen. I am extremely professional when conducting business with vendors but by the time we initially sat down with our venue, I was rolling my eyes and mean mugging him at the table. He started talking about things he had never mentioned to me that he wanted and I was a volcano on the verge of eruption as I knew like you said I would have "been the one MAKING it all come together".

Unfortunately it sucks, but I'm positive your hard work will pay off in the end.

Now anyone that asks how this wedding is coming together, I tell them that his wedding is planned and I'm working on mine.

Oh Kimber Elena, I feel ya. Did you feel better after you lashed out at him? I know when I lashed out at my FH 2 weeks ago about his craigslist addiction I felt much better. And I completely agree with Bennett. Take a day off of wedding planning/talking. Enjoy a wedding free day. It'll help. So will wine. Wine always helps. Feel better, we're almost there!!!

Take a deep breathe. Find ways for him to help, even if its not wedding related, laundry/groceries/ errands etc. It'll be less for.you to do.& he'll be out of your hair

Kimber you are not alone. Sometimes I have thoughts of strangling him when he doesnt realize Ive worked 7 days straight (long days of nursing non stop) while im planning our wedding and our out of state move and he asks whats for dinner?? They dont realize what we do on a day to day basis.

I understand. I cracked under all the pressure ages ago (not just wedding, but also job, family, and living situation) and FH was given certain tasks. He has needed to be poked repeatedly with an enormous stick to get his things done (they're not all done yet).

It's totally just pre-wedding stress. My wedding is June 20th and I've already cursed my bridesmaids and Future Husband lol. I also apologized to them shortly after and let them know that I'm just not myself right now. I just keep thinking of that day when I'll finally be able to call the love of my life my husband Smiley smile

Hi date twin and nope I feel the same... Not to mention we are paying everything by ourselves and we have had a few budget hits that were unexpected and now I am trying to figure out how to pull everything off... Sigh...

I totally understand. My FH has been hardly no help whatsoever and everything that I do he thinks that it is unnecessary. We are one week away and now he is totally stressed out over the stuff that he has to take care of because he has waited to get his things done. There is so much that I want to say but I just decided that it would be best to just keep quiet. I went to Vegas for my first wedding and it was stress-free.

Try being 3 days out lol

I keep reminding myself to use positive self-talk but we were supposed to leave for Vegas early in the am and magically, one of my tires got a hole in it -_-

Oh yeah. I had to take over planning the rehearsal dinner and honeymoon too because he was waiting too long, even though he was adamant about taking care of it. About a month out from the wedding, FH decided he wanted a new car. Awesome. So, he spent every waking minute researching cars, test-driving cars and rate-shopping. And I was just chugging along with DIY stuff.

On the plus side, he does all of the cleaning, yard work AND cooking. So, I forgive him. Smiley smile

It'll all work out in the end, try not to stress too much!

Hi date twin @TooManyMistys! Yeah, we're paying for ours too, and OF COURSE we've had random, unrelated financial disasters lol. Plus some very diva-like bridesmaids, a man-tiff with the groomsmen, some flaky ass vendors.... I am ready (SO READY) for it to actually be here, and we'll look back on this fondly, lol. Thank you, lovely ladies, it's so nice to have others who are like, "WE GET IT!"

Ugh I am dreading this happening. We've got tons of time, and so far I have done all of the planning and DIY stuff, but even talking about the wedding stresses FH out. I could see him turning into the total wreck, which in turn will make me crazy if I'm the one doing the planning!!
